Meta-owned slot Instagram (FB) has finally released its long-promised parental controls. Instagram's new tools are now available to consumers in the US. It allows parents and guardians of teens to limit the amount of time they use the app and see who they follow and who they follow.

The new Instagram feature comes after whistleblower Frances Haugen published a number of internal meta documents to the media. This shows that the company knows Instagram has a negative

impact on the body image of teenage girls. In October, Haugen testified before the Senate Consumer Protection Subcommittee. Alleging that Meta knowingly made Instagram more addictive to young users

Shortly after Haugen's testimony and before his parliamentary appearance, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the company would soon release a parental control tool. Before his testimony, Mosseri said Instagram had been working with them for some time.
