Conical and parallel screw barrels

In a conical extruder, the extruder is specified by the diameter of the screw at the end of the metering section. Meanwhile, the parallel extruder dimension is the diameter of the thread. The 50 mm conical extruder is said to match the output of the 65 mm parallel screw extruder.

For such an extruder, the screw diameter of the feed section was 100 mm. In the feeding section, plasticization is equivalent to a 100 mm parallel screw, while in the metering section, friction and shear are matched to a 50 mm parallel screw. The smaller diameter of the metering section results in less axial force on the screw.

In conical extruders, the plasticization rate of PVC is mainly controlled by controlling the temperature of the screw and barrel, rather than by shearing, which helps to significantly reduce the amperage and more High power economy.
