The Foundation of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences 50 years ago Shiraz Institute of Higher Health Education admitted some medical students. For many years, it continued its academic activities as the main faculty of Shiraz University. In 1986, it was separated from Shiraz University and started its activities independently, first, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, then the University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, Fars Province. Currently, with more than 5000 students, 83 different majors, 460 academic staff and 12000 employees, it not only provides educational services but also provides health services needed for the entire country and the province of Fars in general.
