Chelsea Transfer News: Chelsea loanee Baba Rahman admits to joining Championship club Reading on a permanent deal.

A former Dreams FC graduate, Rahman made his Ghana Premier League debut with Asante Kotoko. His brilliant performance with the Ghanaian club made sure he gets the limelight.

Despite having interest from Premier League clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal, Rahm decided to join the Bundesliga club, Greuther Furth.

Rahman spent two seasons at Furth before signing Augsburg. In Augsburg he showcased his talent and then joined English Premier League club Chelsea. Rahaman has also represented Ghana in International football.

Chelsea Transfer News: Rahman open to join Reading permanently

Chelsea’s loanee Rahman has spoken about his desire to join Reading on a permanent basis.

While speaking to the media regarding this, the Ghanian International said, “If the possibility comes up [to sign permanently] then why not, I’ll take it, but it’s the two clubs who have to deal. I am feeling at home here, I love it.”

He further added, “It was always a possibility to come back here, I was in touch with the gaffer all summer. I watched three games of pre-season, so it was always a possibility. It was so frustrating because I wanted to get out and get a proper pre-season, but it was just the two clubs trying to sort out the transfer issues.”

After signing for Chelsea in 2015, Rahman could not establish himself in the starting lineup. He then spent the next few years with various clubs like Schalke, Reims, Mallorca, PAOK before finally joining Championship club Reading.

Rahman featured in around 30 matches with Reading, last season and delivered consistently good performances. However, that wasn’t enough for him to get some minutes at Chelsea.

Chelsea also signed Marc Cucureilla from Brighton and possesses Ben Chilwell too. So when Reading wanted to bring back the left back on another loan, the Blues did not hesitate to let him go.

Rahman’s contract with Chelsea is coming to an end in 2024. So it is possible that he can have a permanent move next season.

The left-back has already made his second debut last Sunday when he featured in Reading’s 2-1 win over Stoke City. However, he is yet to start in a match, this season.
