Adenoviruses (members of the family Adenoviridae) are medium-sized (90-100 nm), nonenveloped viruses with icosahedral nucleocapsids containing a double-stranded DNA genome. The most important aspect of IF is specimen collection and processing, and a sufficient number of infected respiratory epithelial cells should be obtained.
