Breast radiation image photography refers to the techniques used to visualize the internal structure of the breasts and check for any abnormalities. As breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, regular breast radiation image photography screenings play a critical role in early detection. There are several breast radiation image photography modalities available today that provide detailed views of breast tissue for diagnostic purposes.

Mammography

Mammography is considered the gold standard Breast Imaging cancer screening test. It uses low-dose X-rays of the breasts to look for tumors or abnormalities that may not be felt. Mammograms are able to detect lumps that are too small to feel during a breast exam. During a mammogram, the breasts are compressed between two plates which helps spread out the tissue to get a clear image. Both breasts are imaged from top to bottom and from side to side. Mammograms can detect breast cancers at their earliest, most treatable stages. It is recommended that women between ages 40-75 get annual screening mammograms.
