In her recent interview, the Taking Lives star Angelina Jolie has explained why she ultimately agreed to become a part of an MCU film titled “Eternals.”
We should remind ourselves that she has never before acted in a superhero film, and “Eternals” will be her first venture in that genre. However, she does have some experience in acting in some fantasy-based films such as “Maleficent” and its sequel “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.”
She will be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Eternals” as Thena, and in her recent interview, she has shed some light on her decision.
Jolie was one of the actresses from the premium list of actors who never had acted in a comic book adaptation or an original superhero film (Leonardo DiCaprio being the other one) before she became an official member of the cast of the film “Eternals.”
She will be playing the role of Thanos’ aunt named Thena, and though we haven’t seen her official look from the film, some concept art has given us some ideas. Some photos from the set have also given us some glimpses of her golden armor. We might have to wait till the trailer arrives to accurately judge how she will be looking in the film.
However, it would take quite some time until we get an official trailer from Marvel Studios, and in the meantime, the actress has talked about the upcoming MCU film in her interview with Rogue and has shed some light on why she ultimately decided to become a part of a superhero film.
In the interview, she said that she adores the cast she is working with and admires the fact that they have all come together. She added that the excitement she felt of supporting Chloe Zhao’s vision is why she decided to join, and she loves the way Marvel is expanding our perception of superheroes.
She also joked that running on the set in the gold costume is not what she had expected her forties to be, but she loves the way things are crazy.
The film titled “Eternals” would introduce to all the fans a new set of superheroes and some aliens, who have been living on our planet for thousands of years. Eternals will also shed some light on Thanos’ back-story and his home planet (“Titan”).
In the aftermath of the events shown in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, mankind’s oldest enemy, “The Deviants,” have returned to Earth to haunt mankind; however, the aliens will come out of the shadows and will join hands with humanity to save the world from them.
Chloe Zhao will be helming the film based on a script written by Ryan and Matthew Firpo. The film will also unite Game of Thrones actors Kit Harrington and Richard Madden, who are playing the role of Dane Whitman and Ikaris, respectively. Gemma Chan will be in the role of Sersi, while Kumail Nanjiani will be seen as Kingo. Angelina Jolie will play the pivotal role of Thena, and another A-listed celebrity, Salma Hayek, will perform the character of Ajak.
