Advances in Robotics Technology

Robotics technology has advanced tremendously in recent years. Powerful computers, advanced sensors, cameras and other technologies have allowed robots to perform more complex tasks with high levels of accuracy and precision. In the medical field, robots are being developed and utilized to assist with surgeries, rehabilitation, delivery of medications and care for elderly patients. Miniaturization of technologies has enabled the creation of smaller, more dexterous medical robots.

Surgical Robotics

One of the most widespread Medical Robots applications is in surgery. Robotic surgical systems like da Vinci provide surgeons with enhanced dexterity, vision and control. The robot's wrists and instruments have degrees of freedom similar to the human hand, allowing surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions. 3D cameras provide high definition, stereoscopic views of the surgical site. Surgeons sit at a console controlling the robot's arms and cameras with hand controls and foot pedals.

This allows for minimal invasive surgery that results in less pain, scarring and faster recovery times for patients undergoing procedures like prostatectomies and hysterectomies. Robotic surgery has been shown to improve surgical precision and lead to better clinical outcomes compared to traditional open surgeries.
