Big Brother Brasil is a popular reality TV show in Brazil, modeled after the original Dutch version of Big Brother. The show debuted in Brazil in 2002 and has since become one of the most watched programs on television. The premise of the show is to have a group of people living together in a house, cut off from the outside world, and monitored 24 hours a day by cameras and microphones. The contestants, or "housemates", must complete tasks and challenges, and form alliances and relationships with one another. Throughout the show, housemates nominate each other for eviction, and the public votes to decide who will leave the house. The last housemate remaining in the house wins a cash prize.
