Adding Money to Your Venmo Balance

Note that Venmo charges a 1% fee for instant transfers of funds from a credit card or non-major debit card. You can avoid this fee by using a major debit card or bank account and opting for the standard transfer option, which can take up to three business days to process.
How do I send money to my Venmo account?
Sending money with your Venmo account is easy. Here are the steps to follow:
- Open the Venmo app on your mobile device.
- Tap the "☰" icon in the top-left corner of the app to open the menu.
- Tap the "Pay or Request" option.
- Enter the username, phone number, and email address, or scan the Venmo code of the person you want to send money.
- Enter the amount you want to send.
- If you want to add a note or include an emoji, you can do so in the "What's it for?" field.
- Choose the payment method you want to use. You can pay with your Venmo balance, linked bank account, or debit card.
- If you want the payment to be private, you can choose to use the "Private" option. Otherwise, leave it as "Public."

After you send the payment, the recipient will receive a notification and the money will be transferred to their Venmo account. If the recipient doesn't have a Venmo account, they will receive a notification asking them to sign up for an account and claim the payment.
