Do not think that the processes of teaching reading and teaching to read are the same, quite the opposite, it is quite easy to teach a child to understand the symbols denoting letters, but to teach him, to instill a desire to read, is much more difficult. After all, reading books is a kind of culture that must be instilled in a child gradually, this will help him start to respect what other people have written, empathize with heroes, be kind and responsible, and also contribute to his introduction to the spiritual experience of generations.
When teaching a child to read, first limit yourself to small, namely, instill in the child a culture of reading. A very important point in instilling a culture of reading is that a child should not just swallow a book he likes, but should analyze and reflect on what happened in it. Remember, when teaching children to read, first of all base it on conversations about books. To conduct conversations with your child about the book, read the book first yourself, because you need to know what is happening with its characters and what is its plot.
To instill a love of reading, you can use a lively children's interest. If after each reading of the book, you will discuss with the child the plot and the twists and turns in which the characters fall, you will be interested in what the child liked in the book and what did not, then reading will bring much benefit to your child than just reading it. Make it a tradition to discuss the book. During discussions, ask your child questions such as: what is his perception of the actions of the characters, whether he liked the ending of the book, would he like to change something, for example, the ending, the plot or the characters. All of the above plays a major role in the development of your child, as well as instilling a love of reading. Such discussions will help the child better navigate the literature lessons in school, making it easier for him to learn.
We have already said that teaching a child to read is quite possible by showing a positive example. Remember, if your kid did not see you sitting reading a book, then he will not have any interest in touching any literature.
There is a fair judgment that literature is one of the most difficult forms of art. Because, unlike music and painting, literature cannot be controlled from outside and is not perceived by external senses. The images created by writers come to life only in our imagination, so very often it is difficult to convince a child of the usefulness of reading. Perseverance, one of the qualities that must be instilled in a child, for the successful implementation of a reading training program.
A properly constructed program of instilling in a child a love and interest in reading, will be able to convince the child of the usefulness instead of watching TV, to read, and to recreate book images with his imagination. Regulate the books your child reads, but do not forget that he is a person and is free to choose the literature he likes.
