  • The generation of constitutional isomer chemical spaces has been a subject of cheminformatics since the early 1960s, with applications in structure elucidation and elsewhere. In order to perform such a generation efficiently, exhaustively and isomorphism-free, the structure generator needs to ensure the building of canonical graphs already during the generation step and not by subsequent filtering. Here we present MAYGEN, an open-source, pure-Java development of a constitutional isomer molecular generator. The principles of MAYGEN's architecture and algorithm are outlined and the software is benchmarked in single-threaded mode against the state-of-the-art, but closed-source solution MOLGEN, as well as against the best open-source solution PMG. Based on the benchmarking, MAYGEN is on average 47 times faster than PMG and on average three times slower than MOLGEN in performance.
    The Opti_Knee system, a marker-based motion capture system, tracks and analyzes the 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) motion of the knee joint. However, the validation of the accuracy of this gait system had not been previously reported. The objective of this study was to validate and the system. Two healthy subjects were recruited for the study.

    The 6DOF kinematics of the knee during flexion-extension and level walking cycles of the knee were recorded by Opti_Knee and compared to those from a biplanar fluoroscopy system. The root mean square error (RMSE) of knee kinematics in flexion-extension cycles were compared between the two systems to validate the accuracy at which they detect basic knee motions. The RMSE of kinematics at key events of gait cycles (level walking) were compared to validate the accuracy at which the systems detect functional knee motion. Pearson correlation tests were conducted to assess similarities in knee kinematic trends between the two systems.

    In flexion-extension cycles, the averacy and strong correlation strength compared to biplanar fluoroscopy. The Opti _Knee may serve as a promising portable clinical system for dynamic functional assessments of the knee.

According to two national surveys from 2005 to 2011, triage was carried out with different triage scales and without guidelines or formal education. Furthermore, a review from 2010 questioned the scientific evidence for both triage as a method as well as the Swedish five level triage scale Medical Emergency Triage and Treatment System (METTS); nevertheless, METTS was applied in 65% of the EDs in 2011. Subsequently, METTS was renamed to Rapid Emergency Triage and Treatment System (RETTS©). The hypothesis for this study is that the method of triage is still applied nationally and that the use of METTS/RETTS© has increased. Hence, the aim is to describe the occurrence and application of triage and triage related work at Swedish Emergency Departments, in comparison with previous national surveys.

    Large-scale genomic analyses have provided insight into the genetic complexity of short stature (SS); however, only a portion of genetic causes have been identified. In this study, we identified disease-causing mutations in a cohort of Korean patients with suspected syndromic SS by targeted exome sequencing (TES).

    Thirty-four patients in South Korea with suspected syndromic disorders based on abnormal growth and dysmorphic facial features, developmental delay, or accompanying anomalies were enrolled in 2018-2020 and evaluated by TES.

    For 17 of 34 patients with suspected syndromic SS, a genetic diagnosis was obtained by TES. The mean SDS values for height, IGF-1, and IGFBP-3 for these 17 patients were - 3.27 ± 1.25, - 0.42 ± 1.15, and 0.36 ± 1.31, respectively. Most patients displayed distinct facial features (16/17) and developmental delay or intellectual disability (12/17). In 17 patients, 19 genetic variants were identified, including 13 novel heterozygous variants, associated with 15 different genetilts expand the mutation spectrum for rare genetic diseases related to SS in Korea.Tumor immunity consists of various types of cells, which serve an important role in antitumor therapy. The gastrointestinal tract is colonized by trillions of microorganisms, which form the gut microbiota. In addition to pathogen defense and maintaining the intestinal ecosystem, gut microbiota also plays a pivotal role in various physiological processes. Recently, the association between these symbionts and cancer, ranging from oncogenesis and cancer progression to resistance or sensitivity to antitumor therapies, has attracted **** attention. Metagenome analysis revealed a significant difference between the gut microbial composition of cancer patients and healthy individuals. Moreover, modulation of microbiome could improve therapeutic response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). These findings suggest that microbiome is involved in cancer pathogenesis and progression through regulation of tumor immunosurveillance, although the exact mechanisms remain largely unknown. This review focuses on the interaction between the microbiome and tumor immunity, with in-depth discussion regarding the therapeutic potential of modulating gut microbiota in ICIs. Further investigations are warranted before gut microbiota can be introduced into clinical practice.
    Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is one of the fundamental examinations for the differential diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), and lymphocytosis strongly indicates alternative diagnoses rather than idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. However, the BALF lymphocytosis is observed in several ILDs. We considered that quantitative evaluation of the BALF lymphocyte nuclear morphology would be useful in the differential diagnosis of ILDs with increased BALF lymphocyte fraction.

    One hundred and twenty-one patients with ILDs having increased BALF lymphocyte fraction were recruited (68 in the development cohort and 53 in the validation cohort). In the development cohort, BALF lymphocyte nuclei in sarcoidosis patients showed significantly smaller areas, shorter perimeters, lower radius ratios, and increased roundness than those of other ILD patients (p < 0.001 for each). Intriguingly, bacteria are well equipped to use environmental FAs as energy sources and/or building blocks for their membrane lipids.     To evaluate the association of diabetes and perioperative hemoglobin A1C (HgA1C) value with postoperative wound healing complications following carpal tunnel release (CTR) and trigger finger release (TFR).

    A retrospective review of diabetic patients who underwent CTR and/or TFR between 2014 and 2018 was performed. Hemoglobin A1C value within 90 days of surgery was recorded for all diabetic patients. A nondiabetic comparison group was selected from within the same study period in an approximately 11 procedural ratio, although direct matching was not performed. A chart review was used to examine postoperative wound healing complications, such as wound infection, wound dehiscence, or delayed wound healing.

    Two hundred sixty-two diabetic patients and 259 nondiabetic patients underwent 335 and 337 CTR and/or TFR procedures, respectively. There were 36 wound complications in the diabetic group and 9 complications in the nondiabetic group. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated an increased association of wound healing complications with diabetic patients compared to nondiabetic patients. Additionally, an increased association was demonstrated among diabetic patients with an HgA1C value above 6.5% compared with those with an HgA1C value below 6.5%.

    Compared with nondiabetic controls, diabetic patients have increased associated risk of postoperative wound healing complications following CTR and/or TFR. This increased association was further demonstrated among diabetic patients with elevated perioperative HgA1C values.

    Recently, many seriously ill children requiring medical equipment are being recommended to transition from hospital to home care in Japan. Since 2011, our recovery center has provided a support program for the transfer process from hospital to home for ill children and their families. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factors related to high care burden after completing the discharge-support program.

    A questionnaire-based cross-sectional study was conducted on all primary caregivers whose children received the program in our center and moved from hospital to home (30 children and 29 families) from May 2011 to May 2018. Fifteen children came from the neonatal intensive care unit. The questionnaire consisted of three parts characteristics of children and families and life after the program; the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI); and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS).

    Twenty-three primary caregivers responded (79% response rate). All children received tracheostomy and 71% received home mechanical ventilation. Primary caregivers were all mothers. High ZBI score was not related to the severity and type of medical equipment. There were relationships between high ZBI score and following factors 'unimproved relationship between patients and family members without primary caregivers' and 'additional medical equipment after discharge'. The result of PANAS showed that positive attitude was not different between those with high and low ZBI scores.

    It is crucial to reach out to family members without a primary caregiver. Additional medical care/equipment after the program is related to the care burden of primary caregivers.

Medical records of patients with moderate-severe GO who underwent orbital decompression surgery were retrospectively reviewed. Clinical parameters, including demographic characteristics, surgical technique, exophthalmos values, and QoL using the GO-QoL questionnaire were studied before and after orbital decompression and analyzed. Thirty patients were included in the study. Surgery was bilateral 26 patients and unilateral in 4 patients (56 operated orbits). Before surgery the average value of exophthalmometry was 24.96 (±2.68) mm. The questionnaires submitted for assessment of the quality of life (GO-QoL) yielded average values of 43.3 for the visual function (VF) and 44.03 for the appearance (AP). 20 patients (64.3%) underwent combined bone and fat decompression surgery, 9 underwent fat decompression, and 1 underwent bone decompression.

  • We will also search Chinese databases and Google Scholar. We will search all databases from their inception to the present. Two review authors will independently extract data and perform risk of bias assessment. Primary outcomes will be the difference in mean depression scores on Hamilton Depression Rating Scale between the intervention and control groups and serious adverse events. Secondary outcomes will be suicide, suicide-attempts, suicidal ideation, quality of life and non-serious adverse events.

    No former systematic review has systematically assessed the beneficial and harmful effects of duloxetine taking into account both the risks of random errors and the risks of systematic errors. Our review will help clinicians weigh the benefits of prescribing duloxetine against its adverse effects and make informed decisions.

    Recent studies have proposed that commensal bacteria might be involved in the development and progression of gastrointestinal disorders such as colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, in this study, the relative abundance of Fusobacterium nucleatum, Bacteroides fragilis, Streptococcus bovis/gallolyticus, and Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) in CRC tissues, and their association with clinicopathologic characteristics of CRC was investigated in Iranian patients. Moreover, the role of these bacteria in the CRC-associated mutations including PIK3CA, KRAS, and BRAF was studied.

    Pyroptosis is a lytic cell death form executed by gasdermins family proteins. Induction of tumor pyroptosis promotes anti-tumor immunity and is a potential cancer treatment strategy. Triptolide (TPL) is a natural product isolated from the traditional Chinese herb which possesses potent anti-tumor activity in human cancers. However, its role in pyroptosis remains to be elucidated.

    Cell survival was measured by colony formation assay. Cell apoptosis was determined by Annexin V assay. Pyroptosis was evaluated by morphological features and release of interleukin 1β and lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA). Immunofluorescence staining was employed to measure subcellular localization of proteins. Tumorigenicity was assessed by a xenograft tumor model.     Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extracranial solid tumor in children. It is known for high heterogeneity and concealed onset. In recent years, the mechanism of its occurrence and development has been gradually revealed. The purpose of this study is to summarize the clinical characteristics of children with NB and abnormal chromosome 10, and to investigate the relationship between the number and structure of chromosome 10 abnormalities and NB prognosis.

    Chromosome G-banding was used at the time of diagnosis to evaluate the genetics of chromosomes in patients with NB and track their clinical characteristics and prognosis. All participants were diagnosed with NB in the Medical Oncology Department of the Beijing Children's Hospital from May 2015 to December 2018 and were followed up with for at least 1 year.

    Of all 150 patients with bone marrow metastases, 42 were clearly diagnosed with chromosomal abnormalities. Thirteen patients showed abnormalities in chromosome 10, and chromosome 10 was the most commonly missing chromosome. These 13 patients had higher LDH and lower OS and EFS than children with chromosomal abnormalities who did not have an abnormality in chromosome 10.     This study investigated whether the Valsalva manoeuvre (VM) could be an alternative to use of the tenaculum for intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. The aims were to establish whether VM could provide good patient comfort and enable the insertion to be performed successfully with adequate pain control in cases where the cervix could not be passed spontaneously.

    Women who attended the outpatient clinic of Alanya Education and Research Hospital between November 2017 and December 2020 for IUD insertion were randomly assigned to the VM (
     = 52) or tenaculum (
     = 55) group. Insertion in the latter group was carried out by grasping the cervix with a single-toothed tenaculum. In the VM group, no tenaculum was used to grasp the cervix; instead, the woman was asked to perform VM during insertion.

    IUD insertion success rates were similar between the groups. Procedural anxiety scores were slightly higher in the tenaculum group. Pain scores measured during the procedure were significantly higher in the tenaculum group compared with the VM group. Severe pain was reported by 58.2% of women in the tenaculum group, whereas 57.7% of women in the VM group reported no pain.

    In cases where an IUD cannot be passed through the cervical canal spontaneously, the procedure should be attempted using VM before using a tenaculum. The use of VM may lead to lower pain and anxiety levels as well as increased patient comfort.

  • Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is a tissue perfusion imaging technique. Some versatile free-breathing DCE-MRI techniques combining compressed sensing (CS) and parallel imaging with golden-angle radial sampling have been developed to improve motion robustness with high spatial and temporal resolution. These methods have demonstrated good diagnostic performance in clinical setting, but the reconstruction quality will degrade at high acceleration rates and overall reconstruction time remains long. In this paper, we proposed a new parallel CS reconstruction model for DCE-MRI that enforces flexible weighted sparse constraint along both spatial and temporal dimensions. Weights were introduced to flexibly adjust the importance of time and space sparsity, and we derived a fast-thresholding algorithm which was proven to be simple and efficient for solving the proposed reconstruction model. Results on both the brain tumor DCE and liver DCE show that, at relatively high acceleration factor of fast sampling, lowest reconstruction error and highest image structural similarity are obtained by the proposed method. Besides, the proposed method achieves faster reconstruction for liver datasets and better physiological measures are also obtained on tumor images.The Sodium Reduction in Communities Program (SRCP) aims to reduce dietary sodium intake through policy, systems, and environmental approaches. We evaluated progress of 3 years of SRCP activities in 3 community meals programs in northwest Arkansas. These activities sought to reduce dietary sodium intake through implementation of 1) food service guidelines, 2) procurement practices, 3) food preparation practices, and 4) environmental strategies. Mean reductions of 579 mg (-40%) in sodium served per diner and 525 mg (-22%) in sodium per 1,000 kcal served per diner were found from baseline to Year 1. Mean reductions of 499 mg (-35%) in sodium served per diner and 372 mg (-16%) in sodium per 1,000 kcal served per diner were sustained from baseline to Year 3. These results highlight the effectiveness and sustainability of sodium reduction interventions in community meals programs, whose diners experience food insecurity, have low incomes, and are at high risk for hypertension.

We developed optimal waist circumference cut points for children aged 2 to 8 years in the US-Affiliated Pacific (USAP) region based on the relationship of waist circumference and acanthosis nigricans in this population.

    We conducted a cross-sectional analysis from the Children's Healthy Living Program's 2012-2013 data on 4,023 children. We used receiver-operating characteristic analysis to determine the sensitivity and specificity for acanthosis nigricans across waist circumference, by sex and age. We focused on the discovery, burden, mode of transmission, animal hosts and clinical manifestation of those previously involved in disease outbreaks. A search for mosquito-borne arboviruses detected in Uganda was conducted using search terms 'Arboviruses in Uganda' and 'Mosquitoes and Viruses in Uganda' in PubMed and Google Scholar in 2020. Twenty-four mosquito-borne viruses from different animal hosts, humans and mosquitoes were documented. The majority of these were from family Peribunyaviridae, followed by Flaviviridae, Togaviridae, Phenuiviridae and only one each from family Rhabdoviridae and R diagnostic efforts.Objective This observational retrospective study aims at verifying hepatitis-B-virus (HBV) vaccination coverage in students vaccinated before and after 1992, in order to optimize health surveillance and vaccination recall.Methods Vaccination status was evaluated using the anti-HBs antibody titer (anti-HBs).     Perspectives of individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) regarding inpatient rehabilitation experiences can inform patient-centered care; however, these voices are under-represented in the literature.

    To explore the experiences, needs, and preferences of patients from an ABI inpatient rehabilitation program in Ontario.

    Using an interpretive description approach, we interviewed 12 participants and analyzed the transcripts inductively to generate themes.

    We identified three major themes (1)
    - participants felt their lives diverted due to ABI, with rehabilitation seen as a way to return to pre-injury life, (2)
    highlighted the perceived importance of personal autonomy in decision-making within rehabilitation, and (3)
    reflected an ongoing recovery process after discharge - leading to mixed emotions. An overall message, "re-establishing personal identity is important to the recovery process," reflected theories of biographical disruption and relational autonomy.

    Our findings provide a patient perspective for clinicians and administrators to consider.
    Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is a tissue perfusion imaging technique. Some versatile free-breathing DCE-MRI techniques combining compressed sensing (CS) and parallel imaging with golden-angle radial sampling have been developed to improve motion robustness with high spatial and temporal resolution. These methods have demonstrated good diagnostic performance in clinical setting, but the reconstruction quality will degrade at high acceleration rates and overall reconstruction time remains long. In this paper, we proposed a new parallel CS reconstruction model for DCE-MRI that enforces flexible weighted sparse constraint along both spatial and temporal dimensions. Weights were introduced to flexibly adjust the importance of time and space sparsity, and we derived a fast-thresholding algorithm which was proven to be simple and efficient for solving the proposed reconstruction model. Results on both the brain tumor DCE and liver DCE show that, at relatively high acceleration factor of fast sampling, lowest reconstruction error and highest image structural similarity are obtained by the proposed method. Besides, the proposed method achieves faster reconstruction for liver datasets and better physiological measures are also obtained on tumor images.The Sodium Reduction in Communities Program (SRCP) aims to reduce dietary sodium intake through policy, systems, and environmental approaches. We evaluated progress of 3 years of SRCP activities in 3 community meals programs in northwest Arkansas. These activities sought to reduce dietary sodium intake through implementation of 1) food service guidelines, 2) procurement practices, 3) food preparation practices, and 4) environmental strategies. Mean reductions of 579 mg (-40%) in sodium served per diner and 525 mg (-22%) in sodium per 1,000 kcal served per diner were found from baseline to Year 1. Mean reductions of 499 mg (-35%) in sodium served per diner and 372 mg (-16%) in sodium per 1,000 kcal served per diner were sustained from baseline to Year 3. These results highlight the effectiveness and sustainability of sodium reduction interventions in community meals programs, whose diners experience food insecurity, have low incomes, and are at high risk for hypertension. Waist circumference is a common anthropometric measure for predicting abdominal obesity and insulin resistance. We developed optimal waist circumference cut points for children aged 2 to 8 years in the US-Affiliated Pacific (USAP) region based on the relationship of waist circumference and acanthosis nigricans in this population. We conducted a cross-sectional analysis from the Children's Healthy Living Program's 2012-2013 data on 4,023 children. We used receiver-operating characteristic analysis to determine the sensitivity and specificity for acanthosis nigricans across waist circumference, by sex and age. We focused on the discovery, burden, mode of transmission, animal hosts and clinical manifestation of those previously involved in disease outbreaks. A search for mosquito-borne arboviruses detected in Uganda was conducted using search terms 'Arboviruses in Uganda' and 'Mosquitoes and Viruses in Uganda' in PubMed and Google Scholar in 2020. Twenty-four mosquito-borne viruses from different animal hosts, humans and mosquitoes were documented. Perspectives of individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) regarding inpatient rehabilitation experiences can inform patient-centered care; however, these voices are under-represented in the literature. To explore the experiences, needs, and preferences of patients from an ABI inpatient rehabilitation program in Ontario. Using an interpretive description approach, we interviewed 12 participants and analyzed the transcripts inductively to generate themes. We identified three major themes (1) - participants felt their lives diverted due to ABI, with rehabilitation seen as a way to return to pre-injury life, (2) highlighted the perceived importance of personal autonomy in decision-making within rehabilitation, and (3) reflected an ongoing recovery process after discharge - leading to mixed emotions. An overall message, "re-establishing personal identity is important to the recovery process," reflected theories of biographical disruption and relational autonomy. Our findings provide a patient perspective for clinicians and administrators to consider.

    To evaluate 3D accuracy and outcome of a dynamic navigation method for guided root canal treatment of severe pulp canal obliteration (PCO) in 3D printed jaws.

    Three operators with different levels of experience in Endodontics performed navigated access cavities, using the Navident system (ClaroNav), in two sets (maxillary and mandibular) of 3D-printed jaw models with teeth presenting severe PCO. Models were mounted on a phantom to mimic a real clinical situation. After treatment, a postoperative high resolution Cone-Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) scan (NewTom) was taken for each model and registered to the preoperative model. All access cavities were then segmented using 3-Matic Medical software 15.0 (Materialise). Length and volume of each access cavity were measured, and a comparison was done by measuring the distance deviation in mm at the coronal entry point, apical point, vertical deviation, total deviation and angular deviation of the access cavity in comparison with the virtual planning. Additionan was an accurate approach for root canal treatment in teeth with severely calcified canals. However, the technique has a learning curve and requires extensive training prior to its use clinically.

Using a suite of genetic markers (microsatellites), this study explores the contribution of the stocking programme to the Shetland sea trout population. The authors found that the domesticated broodstock and wild spawned brown trout from seven streams were genetically distinct. Despite extensive stocking, wild spawned brown trout dominated, even in those streams with a long history of supplementation. The majority of sea trout caught and analysed were of wild origin - only a single individual was of pure stocked origin, with a small number of fish being of wild × stocked origins. This study suggests that stocking with a domesticated strain of brown trout has made only a very limited contribution to the Shetland Islands rod catch, and that the revival of sea trout numbers appears to be driven almost exclusively by recovery of trout spawned in the wild.
    We sought to report the long-term, symptom-focused, prospective outcomes in empty nose syndrome (ENS) patients after undergoing inferior meatus augmentation procedure (IMAP) through use of four validated questionnaires Empty Nose Syndrome 6-Item Questionnaire (ENS6Q), 22-item Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22), Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-Item Scale (GAD-7), and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9).

  • The discovery of anaerobic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (Anammox) and, more recently, aerobic bacteria common in many natural and engineered systems that oxidize ammonia completely to nitrate (Comammox) have significantly altered our understanding of the global nitrogen cycle. A high affinity for ammonia (Km(app),NH3 ≈ 63nM) and oxygen place Comammox Nitrospira inopinata, the first described isolate, in the same trophic category as organisms such as some ammonia-oxidizing archaea. However, N. inopinata has a relatively low affinity for nitrite (Km,NO2 ≈ 449.2μM) suggesting it would be less competitive for nitrite than other nitrite-consuming aerobes and anaerobes. We examined the ecological relevance of the disparate substrate affinities by coupling it with the Anammox bacterium Candidatus Brocadia anammoxidans. Synthetic communities of the two were established in hydrogel granules in which Comammox grew in the aerobic outer layer to provide Anammox with nitrite in the inner anoxic core to form dinitrogen gas. This spatial organization was confirmed with FISH imaging, supporting a mutualistic or commensal relationship. The functional significance of interspecies spatial organization was informed by the hydrogel encapsulation format, broadening our limited understanding of the interplay between these two species. The resulting low nitrate formation and the competitiveness of Comammox over other aerobic ammonia- and nitrite-oxidizers sets this ecological cooperation apart and points to potential biotechnological applications. Since nitrate is an undesirable product of wastewater treatment effluents, the Comammox-Anammox symbiosis may be of economic and ecological importance to reduce nitrogen contamination of receiving waters.Since the first outbreak of COVID-19, various interventions have been implemented to prevent the global spread of the virus. Results show that early and severe mobility control that restricts 90% of domestic travel decreases the peak cases by 40%, compared to no intervention implementation. Mobility control that only limits movement to and from highly populated regions is as effective as nationwide travel restrictions. Furthermore, shortening of restaurants' opening hours is the most effective intervention in a state of emergency; it should be utilized even after the emergency. However, working from home has comparatively limited effects.The determinant role of the annulus fibrosus interlamellar zones in the intervertebral disc transversal and volumetric responses and hence on their corresponding three-dimensional conducts have been only revealed and appreciated recently. For this latter reason, the main goal of the current contribution is to incorporate physically for the first time, the interlamellar zones, at the scale of a complete human lumbar intervertebral disc, in order to allow a correct local vision and replication of the different lamellar-interlamellar interakinetics and microstructure.

We defined a new concept, isoform junction abundance, to help enhance the accuracy of isoform identification and quantification. Isoform abundance and isoform junction abundance are estimated by an adapted genetic algorithm. The crossover and mutation probabilities of the algorithm can be adaptively adjusted to effectively prevent premature convergence. Both simulated and real data indicated that AGTAR's comprehensive ability to assemble transcripts is significantly superior to that achievable by the currently widely used tools with similar functions.

    Diverse ethnic genetic populations display variability in the risk regarding anti-seizure medicine (ASM)-induced severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs). However, clinical and epidemiological data on ASM-induced SCARs in Asians is limited.

    We conducted a retrospective, post-market study until April 30, 2020 using VigiBase® for demographic characteristics, causative ASMs, complications and mortality. The study included adverse events as classified by Standardized Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA) queries of SCARs, mainly Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), and SJS/TEN overlap reported for ASMs.

    A total of 694,811 adverse events were reported across the world while using ASMs. Of this, skin and subcutaneous tissue adverse events were 122,885 (17.6%). However, clinical and epidemiological data on ASM-induced SCARs in Asians is limited. We conducted a retrospective, post-market study until April 30, 2020 using VigiBase® for demographic characteristics, causative ASMs, complications and mortality. The study included adverse events as classified by Standardized Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA) queries of SCARs, mainly Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), and SJS/TEN overlap reported for ASMs. A total of 694,811 adverse events were reported across the world while using ASMs. Of this, skin and subcutaneous tissue adverse events were 122,885 (17.6%). This review aims to discuss the recent findings on the use of RNAi-based fungicides to control the postharvest spoilage of fresh fruits. PRACTICAL APPLICATION Control of postharvest fungal diseases is one of the most important strategies to make food available to consumers longer. In this sense, the external application of RNAi seems to be technologically advantageous and efficient as it helps to maintain the characteristics of plant products. In this sense, this review discussed what is possible to find in the literature regarding this new technology.Precipitation is significantly influenced by the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which is considered to be the most important factor that brings about climate variability. In this study, the asymmetry of the origin of continental precipitation anomalies during El Niño and La Niña events was investigated. An already validated Lagrangian approach was used to determine the proportion of the total Lagrangian precipitation that is of oceanic and terrestrial origin. Further, the role of these components of the Lagrangian precipitation in regions with significant precipitation anomalies during the ENSO was investigated. A two-phase asymmetric behavior of precipitation, particularly in tropical regions, was obtained. For some of these regions, precipitation anomalies based on other datasets were also calculated to confirm the observed changes, and for these regions, it was observed that in all cases, the calculated anomaly of Lagrangian precipitation agreed with the precipitation change. The percentage of precipitation of oceanic origin was higher in most of these regions. However, it was observed that an increase in the percentage of precipitation of oceanic origin did not bring about a general increase in precipitation for all the regions, revealing the importance of precipitation of terrestrial origin during both phases of the ENSO.Surface browning is a vital phenomenon that adversely reduces the quality of fresh-cut potatoes. The activities of CAT, ascorbate peroxidase, and glutathione peroxidase and the scavenging efficiency of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl were also increased. Moreover, CAT treatment inhibited the activities of polyphenol oxidase, peroxidase, and phenylalanine ammonia lyase and reduced phenol accumulation. Treatment with 0.1% hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) achieved the opposite results. This is the first report of CAT application reducing fresh-cut potato browning, providing a safe treatment alternative for enzymatic discoloration and preliminarily revealing the underlying mechanism with insight into antioxidant regulation.   • The strong magnetic anisotropy and two-dimensional conducting plane play key roles in the low-temperature antiferromagnetic semiconducting state. BO4 is the first compound exhibiting antiferromagnetic ordering among SMMs mediated by π-electrons, demonstrating the synergetic effects between SMMs and molecular conductors.Non-covalent chemosensing ensembles of cucurbit[n]urils (CBn) have been widely used in proof-of-concept sensing applications, but they are prone to disintegrate in saline media, e.g. biological fluids. We show here that covalent cucurbit[7]uril-indicator dye conjugates are buffer- (10× PBS buffer) and saline-stable (up to 1.4 M NaCl) and allow for selective sensing of Parkinson's drug amantadine in human urine and saliva, where the analogous non-covalent CB7⊃dye complex is dysfunctional. The in-depth analysis of the covalent host-dye conjugates in the gas-phase, and deionized versus saline aqueous media revealed interesting structural, thermodynamic and kinetic effects that are of general interest for the design of CBn-based supramolecular chemosensors and systems. This work also introduces a novel high-affinity indicator dye for CB7 through which fundamental limitations of indicator displacement assays (IDA) were exposed, namely an impractical slow equilibration time. Unlike non-covalent CBn⊃dye reporter pairs, the conjugate chemosensors can also operate through a SN2-type guest-dye exchange mechanism, which shortens assay times and opens new avenues for tailoring analyte-selectivity.This minireview focuses on recent progress in developing heavy-atom-free photosensitizers based on the thionation of nucleic acid derivatives and other biocompatible organic compounds for prospective applications in photodynamic therapy. Particular attention is given to the use of thionated nucleobase derivatives as "one-two punch" photodynamic agents. These versatile photosensitizers can act as "Trojan horses" upon metabolization into DNA and exposure to activating light. Their incorporation into cellular DNA increases their selectivity and photodynamic efficacy against highly proliferating skin cancer tumor cells, while simultaneously enabling the use of low irradiation doses both in the presence and in the absence of molecular oxygen. Also reviewed are their primary photochemical reactions, modes of action, and photosensitization mechanisms. New developments of emerging thionated organic photosensitizers absorbing visible and near-infrared radiation are highlighted. Future research directions, as well as, other prospective applications of heavy-atom-free, thionated photosensitizers are discussed.The use of biocatalysts for fragment-based drug discovery has yet to be fully investigated, despite the promise enzymes hold for the synthesis of poly-functional, non-protected small molecules. Here we analyze products of the biocatalysis literature to demonstrate the potential for not only fragment generation, but also the enzyme-mediated elaboration of these fragments. This mode has been exemplified by the Pd(ii)-catalyzed aerobic oxidative Heck reaction of indoles, in which a ligand-controlled C3-/C2-selectivity was achieved for the first time by the development of sulfoxide-2-hydroxypyridine (SOHP) ligands.The reaction of [Ni(Mes2Im)2] (1) (Mes2Im = 1,3-dimesityl-imidazolin-2-ylidene) with polyfluorinated arenes as well as mechanistic investigations concerning the insertion of 1 and [Ni(iPr2Im)2] (1ipr) (iPr2Im = 1,3-diisopropyl-imidazolin-2-ylidene) into the C-F bond of C6F6 is reported. Radical species and other diamagnetic side products were detected for the reaction of 1 with C6F6, in line with a radical pathway for the C-F bond activation step using 1. This collaboration worked to implement requirements for operating a school during a pandemic. The task force adapted those concepts into a toolkit to assist schools to meet health requirements throughout the most significant pandemic in over 100 years.
    Since people with Parkinson disease (PD) rely on limited prefrontal executive resources for the control of gait, interventions targeting the prefrontal cortex (PFC) may help in managing PD-related gait impairments. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can be used to modulate PFC excitability and improve prefrontal cognitive functions and gait.

    We investigated the effects of adding anodal tDCS applied over the PFC to a session of aerobic exercise on gait, cognition, and PFC activity while walking in people with PD.

    A total of 20 people with PD participated in this randomized, double-blinded, sham-controlled crossover study. Participants attended two 30-minute sessions of aerobic exercise (cycling at moderate intensity) combined with different tDCS conditions (active- or sham-tDCS), 1 week apart. The order of sessions was counterbalanced across the sample. Anodal tDCS (2 mA for 20 minutes [active-tDCS] or 10 s [sham-tDCS]) targeted the PFC in the most affected hemisphere. Spatiotemporal gait parameters, cognitive functions, and PFC activity while walking were assessed before and immediately after each session.

    Compared with the pre-assessment, participants decreased step time variability (effect size -0.4), shortened simple and choice reaction times (effect sizes -0.73 and -0.57, respectively), and increased PFC activity in the stimulated hemisphere while walking (effect size 0.54) only after aerobic exercise + active-tDCS.

Up to two thirds of patients have paraneoplastic hypercalcemia. The molecular signature of these tumors is SMARCA4 mutations, with somatic and germline pathogenic variants previously described. We report a case of a previously healthy one-year-old girl who was noticed to have mild anemia and an abdominal mass during a well-child visit. Further laboratory testing revealed hypercalcemia. A computerized tomography scan showed a left-sided ovarian mass (9.3 x 7.3 x 7 cm). The resection specimen showed a large ovarian tumor with solid tan-yellow cut surfaces and small foci of necrosis. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of sheets of small, hyperchromatic epithelioid cells with focal rhabdoid large cell morphology. The tumor cells were strongly and diffusely positive for WT1 (N-terminal antibodies) with focal EMA and Pan-keratin positivity.

  • The Bulgarian split squat (BSS) is a unilateral lower extremity strength exercise; however, the mechanical demands have not been fully elucidated. The purpose of this study was to compare ankle, knee, and hip joint net joint moment impulse (NJMI), work (NJW), peak net joint moment (NJM) and peak displacement between the BSS and traditional bilateral **** squat (BS). Following a practice and 1-repetition maximum (1-RM) session, 2x3 BS (70% 1-RM) and BSS (35% 1-RM) were completed by twenty resistance trained males (24.20 ± 2.50 yrs, 1.76 ± 0.06m, 85.3 ± 13.90 kg). Significant squat type x joint interactions were revealed for NJMI (p less then 0.001), NJW (p less then 0.001), peak NJM (p less then 0.001), and peak displacement (p = 0.011). For both squats, hip NJMI, NJW, and peak NJM was significantly greater than both ankle (d = 5.50-9.40) and knee (d = 7.50-8.50). While knee NJMI (d = 2.80) and peak NJM (d = 2.10) during the BSS was statistically less compared to ankle, during BS knee NJMI was statistically greater than ankle (d = 3.00). Ankle and knee NJW were statistically similar during BSS (d = 0.30), whereas knee NJW was statistically greater than ankle during BS (d = 3.20). Comparing between squat types within each joint demonstrated statistically equal peak displacement for the ankle (d = 0.14) and hip (d = 0.11), whereas knee joint peak displacement was significantly less for the BSS compared to BS (d = 0.82). Both the BSS and BS are hip dominant exercises. The BSS may best be used in circumstances to focus on hip extension while minimizing the knee joint demands, such as the early phases of knee rehabilitation or when addressing isolated hip extension deficiencies.Core muscle function is considered a risk factor for low **** pain appearance in dancers. The purpose of this study was to examine the transversus abdominis and lumbar multifidus thickness among Argentine Tango dancers in different functional dance positions. A secondary purpose was to compare muscle thickness at rest and contraction between dancers and untrained participants. Ten trained dancers and ten untrained women aged 33.8 ± 6.09 years participated in this study. Using ultrasonography, the transversus abdominis and lumbar multifidus muscle thickness were measured at rest and during contraction in three different dance positions Basic in Open embrace, Basic in Close embrace, and Volcada. The results showed a significant increase in muscle thickness during contraction compared to thickness at rest for both muscles (p 0.05). Training exercises in these Argentine Tango positions may be beneficial for the performance and prevention of low **** pain, especially in Argentine Tango dancers.The vertical jump has been shown to be an effective tool in assessing neuromuscular fatigue. The two most common iterations of the vertical jump are the countermovement and squat jumps. This investigation sought to identify if differences exist between the two jumping strategies with regard to electromyography (EMG) and kinetics in a group of recreationally trained males. Twenty-two participants completed one experimental session, where three countermovement (CMJ) and three squat jumps (SJ) were performed using a counterbalanced within-subject design. Jump performance was evaluated with data obtained using a force platform. Additionally, EMG was collected on the vastus lateralis (VL), vastus medialis (VM), semitendinosus (ST) and medial gastrocnemius (MG). Greater EMG values were seen in the CMJ for ST as well as percentage of activation in the MG (p less then 0.05). Increased values of mean force and mean power were observed in the SJ, while the CMJ showed greater peak and mean velocity. Greater jump heights in the CMJ were present as well (p less then 0.05). These findings suggest that the increase in CMJ jump height due to the increase in propulsive velocity is not due to increases in knee extensors muscle activation.This study examined the effect of isometric cervical strength and impact location of the hockey helmet in mitigating the risk of concussions for two different mechanisms of injury from a fall during head impact simulation testing. Isometric cervical strength was measured on 25 female hockey players to compute and model neck strength on a mechanical neckform. A dual-rail vertical drop system with a helmet mounted on a surrogate headform simulated the mechanisms of injury causing concussions on female ice hockey players. Measures of peak linear acceleration and risk of injury due to a head collision (GSI) were used to assess the magnitude of the head impact due to a fall across three neck strength measures (weak, average, strong), three helmet locations (front, rear, side), and two mechanisms of injury (direct, whiplash+impact). A three-way ANOVA revealed a significant main effect for impact mechanism on the magnitude of peak linear acceleration and GSI, with the whiplash+impact mechanism generating significantly greater peak linear acceleration and GSI than the direct impact mechanism. A significant two-way interaction effect was found between impact location and mechanism of injury on peak linear acceleration measures, with the direct impact on the side location generating significantly greater peak linear acceleration than the frontal location. On the contrary, the whiplash+impact mechanism revealed that the frontal impact location produced significantly greater peak linear acceleration than the side location.
