Although fetal brain injury due to
gene mutation is well documented, fetal central nervous system (CNS) and placental histopathology lack description. We report CNS and placental pathology in fetal cases with symptomatic
mutation.
We retrieved four autopsy cases of COL4A1 related disease, confirmed by genetic sequencing after fetal brain injury was detected.
One case was a midgestation fetus with residua of ventricular zone hemorrhage and normal placental villi. Three cases were 30-32 week gestation fetuses two demonstrated CNS small vessel thrombosis, with CNS injury. Both demonstrated high grade placental fetal vascular malperfusion (FVM). One additionally showed villous dysmorphism, the other demonstrated mild villous immaturity. The fetus whose placenta demonstrated high grade FVM was growth restricted. A fourth fetus demonstrated schizencephaly with a CNS arteriopathy with smooth muscle cell degeneration and cerebral infarcts; the placenta demonstrated severe villous dysmorphism and low grade FVM.
These cases confirm that small vessel disease is important in producing intracranial pathology in
mutation. We report an arteriopathy distinct from microvascular thrombosis and demonstrate that placental pathology is common in fetal COL4A1 related disease. This tentatively suggests that placental pathology may contribute to CNS abnormalities by affecting circulatory sufficiency.

The paper specifically provides a breakdown of the control task in myoelectric prosthesis, and in addition, highlights and describes the importance of the acquisition of a high-quality bio-signal. The paper also describes commonly used invasive and non-invasive brain and muscle machine interfaces such as electroencephalography, electrocorticography, electroneurography, surface electromyography, sonomyography, mechanomyography, near infra-red, force sensitive resistance/pressure, and magnetoencephalography. Each modality is reviewed based on its operating principle and limitations in gesture recognition, followed by respective advantages and disadvantages. Also described within this paper, are multimodal sensing approaches, which involve data fusion of information from various sensing modalities for an enhanced neuromuscular bio-sensing source. Using a semi-systematic review methodology, we are able to derive a novel tabular approach towards contrasting the various strengths and weaknesses of the reviewed bio-sensing methods towards gesture recognition in a prosthesis interface. This would allow for a streamlined method of down selection of an appropriate bio-sensor given specific prosthesis design criteria and requirements. The paper concludes by highlighting a number of research areas that require more work for strides to be made towards improving and enhancing the connection between man and machine as it concerns upper-limb prosthesis. Such areas include classifier augmentation for gesture recognition, filtering techniques for sensor disturbance rejection, feeling of tactile sensations with an artificial limb.Objectives The aim of this study was to investigate the association between survival of anti-MDA5 autoantibody-positive/negative patients with myositis-associated interstitial lung disease (MA-ILD) and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), C-reactive protein-albumin ratio (CAR), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate-albumin ratio (EAR).Method The study included 104 patients diagnosed with MA-ILD between January 2017 and February 2019 at the First Affiliated Hospital, University of Science and Technology of China. The clinical and laboratory results were compared between survivors and non-survivors in anti-MDA5 autoantibody-positive and anti-MDA5 autoantibody-negative patients. Cox proportional hazard models were used for univariable and multivariate analyses to determine survival-related factors. A logistic regression model was used to establish a joint diagnosis, and the feasibility of the combined diagnosis to evaluate the prognosis of MA-ILD was explored.Results Among 47 anti-MDA5-positive patients with MA-ILD, EAR was an independent predictor of survival. When separated into high and low subgroups, high MLR (> 0.604) and EAR (> 1.458) were predictive of survival (p 0.872) were independent predictors of survival (p less then 0.05).Conclusion MLR and EAR are associated with prognosis in anti-MDA5-positive patients. NLR and EAR are associated with prognosis in anti-MDA5-negative patients. The consumption of dairy products, particularly of low fat milk, has been shown to be associated with the occurrence of Parkinson's disease. This association does not necessarily reflect a pathophysiological role of milk intake in the development of Parkinson's disease. Nevertheless, the present review discusses a potential mechanism possibly mediating an effect of milk consumption on Parkinson's disease. The case is made that milk is tailored in part to support bone mineralization of the suckling offspring and is thus rich in calcium and phosphate. Milk intake is thus expected to enhance intestinal calcium phosphate uptake. As binding to fatty acids impedes Ca2+ absorption, low fat milk is particularly effective. Calcium and phosphate uptake inhibit the formation of 1,25(OH)2D3 (1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D3 = calcitriol), the active form of vitamin D. A load of 100 N was applied to the incisal edge of mandibular central incisors at a 30º angle. Results showed that zirconia overdenture had lower von Mises stress and deformation in its components than acrylic. Reinforcement of an acrylic overdenture with cobalt chromium or zirconia short frameworks reduced von Mises stress and deformation on its components. Reinforcement of an acrylic overdenture with polyetherketoneketone framework did not show any significant reduction in von Mises stress and deformation. Therefore, it can be concluded that using zirconia overdenture or reinforcing an acrylic overdenture with cobalt chromium or zirconia framework could increase the longevity of the prosthesis.
The aim of this study was to evaluate marginal and internal fit of ceramic inlays designed with different computer-aided design software programs.
11 typodont mandibular first molars were prepared as a ceramic class II mesioocclusal inlay cavity. Teeth were scanned using 3Shape TRIOS Intraoral Dental Scanner. The scan data, which was obtained in the form of a STL file, was designed in three different *** systems (CEREC, KaVo, and Planmeca). The obtained STL scan data was exported to design inlay using three different *** systems (CEREC, KaVo, and Planmeca). An independent 5-axis milling unit was used to manufacture the feldspatic inlay restorations. 11 measurements for each teeth were made by using micro-ct to evaluate the marginal and internal fit. One-way ANOVA was used to determine the statistical difference between groups, and Tukey posthoc test was used to determine intra-group differences.
According to repeated ANOVA test results, a statistically significant difference was found between the groups for the variables A, D, and F. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in linear measurements for other measurement points and volumetric measurements (p⟩0.05).

Software programs of different systems affects the marginal and internal fit of inlay restorations.Chairside ***/CAM is a convenient approach for fabricating dental restorations. However, the effect of ***/CAM restoration type on marginal fit accuracy has not been fully investigated. This study evaluated of the marginal fit accuracy of 3 chairside ***/ CAM restoration types (crown, inlay and onlay) using CEREC Bluecam (**) and CEREC Omnicam (OC) scanners. Three artificial maxillary first molars received crown, inlay and onlay preparations. A total of 10 ***/CAM ceramic restorations were produced for each tooth by each intraoral scanner. The marginal gap was measured along the preparation margin. For the **, all the restorations had similar marginal gaps (crowns = 113.9 μm; inlays = 120.9 μm; onlays = 132.5 μm) (p = 0.20), while for the OC, the crowns (72.2 μm) and the inlays (74.9 μm) exhibited better marginal fit than the onlays (96.4 μm) (p = 0.003). For every restoration type, the OC provided a superior outcome compared with the **. Therefore, the restoration type influenced the marginal gap, where the crowns tended to have the least marginal gap while the onlays had the greatest marginal gap. The newer scanner (OC) of the same manufacturer was more accurate than the older scanner (**).
If bacteria penetrate through the implant-abutment connection, they may initiate inflammatory reactions in the peri-implant tissue. It seems that the type of connection plays a key role in the development of peri-implantitis. The aim of the present in vitro study was to compare the microleakage of implant-supported fixed complete arch bridges at the levels of abutment and implant.
Ten identical polyurethane model bases containing six implants each were produced using an edentulous model of the upper jaw. These models were prepared with two types of implant-supported complete arch prostheses. Five specimens were fixed at implant level and five at abutment level. The inner parts implants were inoculated with Escherichia coli (E.coli). Each implant was surrounded with closed bacteria-proof vessels to observe bacterial migration from the inner parts of implants to the nutrient solution. Samples of nutrient solution were taken at different time points up to 2 to 10 days and colony forming units were determined.

The YCW calves exhibited a greater (P less then 0.05) thickness of the wall in the duodenum and jejunum. Calves supplemented with YCW improved (P less then 0.05) the claudin 1 mRNA expression in the ileum and occludin mRNA expression in the jejunum and ileum. The YCW increased (P less then 0.05) the contents of secretory immunoglobulin A in the jejunum and ileum of calves. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with YCW could improve the gastrointestinal development of weaned calves.This study evaluated the effects of dietary energy levels on growth performance, carcass traits, meat quality, and serum biochemical of female Hu lambs. Seventy female Hu lambs (aged 4 months) were randomly allotted to 5 dietary treatments. Lambs were fed diets with 5 levels of metabolizable energy (ME) 9.17 (E1), 9.59 (E2), 10.00 (E3), 10.41 (E4), and 10.82 MJ/kg (E5). The lambs were adapted to the experimental diets for 10 d and the experiment period lasted for 60 d. Dry matter intake and feed conversion ratio linearly (P less then 0.001) increased and decreased (P less then 0.001), respectively, with increasing dietary ME levels. Average daily gain (ADG) linearly (P less then 0.001) increased with increasing dietary ME levels, with the highest final body weight (P = 0.041) observed in E4 group. Weighted mean differences (WMDs) with the corresponding confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated. Eight mililiter of blood was collected from 15 pregnant women and processed with the VTX-1 Liquid Biopsy System. Y-chromosome specific quantitative PCR was performed to estimate the number of enriched male CTs. To evaluate the VTX-1 performance, the target cell recovery was characterized by spiking experiments with a trophoblast cell line. Furthermore, the total quantity of DNA after enrichment was used to calculate the number of retained maternal cells.
Successful recovery of male CTs was established in 7 out of 10 first trimester samples from pregnant women carrying a male fetus. The number of CTs, recovered from 8ml of blood, was estimated between two and six. Spiking experiments resulted in a CT recovery of ±35 % with ±1524 retained maternal blood cells.

To update the current understanding of localized laryngeal amyloidosis by analyzing the NHS National Amyloidosis Database and to further clarify the important ongoing management issues.
Retrospective review, case series.
Patients with laryngeal amyloid were identified from the database of the NHS National Amyloidosis Center, UCL, Royal Free Hospital, London between 2000 and 2017. Patient demographics and disease profile were collated, including the exact location of amyloid deposit, treatments if any, and progression of disease.
One hundred and three patients with localized laryngeal amyloid where identified from the database, with a mean age of 54 at diagnosis and female to male ratio of 5449. Three patients were excluded from further analysis due to limited database information. The majority of amyloid was found in either the supraglottis (44) or glottis (53) but all the laryngeal subsites were involved. One-third of the patients (34) had amyloid in more than one laryngeal subsite. No patients were found to progress to systemic amyloid, but many progressed locally to other subsites or further down the LTB tree (29%). Three patients were successfully treated with radiotherapy after other modalities had failed.
This is the largest case series reported to date of localized laryngeal amyloidosis. It highlights the high incidence of multifocal disease and the significant proportion of patients who progressed, not to systemic amyloidosis but to more extensive localized amyloid. We recommend that in all cases of laryngeal amyloid, patients should undergo a thorough assessment of the upper and lower airways and have ongoing surveillance for at least 15 years.

These organoid Rbs exhibit properties highly consistent with Rb tumorigenesis, transcriptome, and genome-wide methylation. Single-cell sequencing analysis suggests that Rb originated from ARR3-positive maturing cone precursors during development, which was further validated by immunostaining. Notably, we found that the PI3K-Akt pathway was aberrantly deregulated and its activator spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) was significantly up-regulated. In this study, we aimed at determining the applicability of various types of laparoscopic surgery to gastric GIST based on the tumor location and growth type. Between 2005 and 2020, 52 patients underwent surgery for preoperatively suspected or pathologically confirmed GIST. Tumors were found in the upper, middle, and lower portions of the stomach of 32, 16 and 4 patients, respectively. The types of tumor growth were intraluminal, extraluminal, and mixed for 21, 14, and 17 patients, respectively. The surgical procedures were open and laparoscopic for 26 patients each. After the laparoscopic surgery, the surgical duration, blood loss, and tumor size were significantly lower, while the hospital stay was significantly shorter. For the laparoscopic surgery, we adopted simple wedge resection, transillumination and serosal dissection methods(TSDM), or LECS. Two patients underwent TSDM using single incisional laparoscopic surgery(SILS)for tumors with intraluminal growth in the cardiac region, while 7 underwent LECS. The selection of the method for laparoscopic surgery was based on the tumor location or growth type, resulting in good outcomes.An 83-year-old woman was given a diagnosis of gastric cancer and received distal gastrectomy 9 years ago. Three years later, CT revealed a tumor measuring 13 mm in diameter in hepatic segment 7. She was followed for 5 years, and the size of the tumor did not change. Eight years later after gastrectomy, the tumor size slightly enlarged to 17 mm, and biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma. The patient underwent liver resection of segment 7. The pathological diagnosis was well differentiated intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC). No sign of recurrence has been found during a 1-year. This case, in which the patient was followed for 5 years before curative surgical treatment, is significant, because it demonstrates the slow-growing nature of ICC.A 69-year-old woman with unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(T3N1M1, Stage â…£)underwent chemoradiotherapy with gemcitabine, cisplatin and irradiation toward primary lesion(total dose, 36 Gy). We performed tumor resection for diagnostic purposes because malignancy could not be ruled out owing to the large size of the mass. Intraoperative findings showed a well-circumscribed margin of the tumor without invasion to other tissues. The retroperitoneum was incised circumferentially along the tumor under laparoscopic guidance, and the tumor was resected. Histopathological and immunostaining findings were consistent with leiomyosarcoma. As AA responded poorly to treatment, without improvement in pancytopenia, we decided to perform colectomy. The perioperative management, including blood transfusion and administration of a G-CSF preparation, was performed in collaboration with a hematologist, followed by right hemicolectomy and hepatic lateral segmentectomy. She was transferred to the department of hematology on hospital day 8 without complications. In conclusion, a highly invasive surgery, as in the present case, can be performed safely with an appropriate perioperative management even in cases complicated by AA.

Drinking water distribution systems (DWDSs) have been thoroughly studied, but the concept of thermal energy recovery from DWDSs is very new and has been conceptualized in the past few years. Cold recovery results in a temperature increase of the drinking water. Its effects on drinking water quality and biofilm development are unclear. Hence, we studied both bulk water and biofilm phases for 232 days in two parallel pilot scale distribution systems with two temperature settings after cold recovery, 25 °C and 30 °C, and compared these with a reference pilot system without cold recovery. In all three pilot distributions systems (DSs) our results showed an initial increase in biomass (ATP) in the biofilm phase, along with occurrence of primary colonizers (Betaproteobacteriales) and subsequently a decrease in biomass and an increasing relative abundance of other microbial groups (amoeba resisting groups; Xanthobacteraceae, Legionellales), including those responsible for EPS formation in biofilms (Sphingomonadaceaeersity and composition at the end of the experimental period. Hence, we propose that the microbiological water quality of DWDSs with cold recovery should be monitored more frequently during the first 2-3 months of operation.During anaerobic digestion, methanogenic activities and pathways can be affected by intermediates. Here, the effects of intermediates acetate, propionate, and ethanol on methanogenesis were investigated. Four anaerobic sequencing batch reactors were acclimated with propionate (ASBR_P), ethanol/propionate (ASBR_EP), acetate/propionate (ASBR_AP), and ethanol/acetate/propionate (ASBR_EAP). Ethanol was the easiest one to be biodegraded, thereby enhancing the maximum methane production rate and shortening the lag phase, while the longest acclimation time and lowest methane production rate were observed in ASBR_P. Different microbial communities and syntrophic patterns existed in four reactors. Desulfovibrio and Geobacter were the dominant ethanol-oxidizing bacteria in ASBR_EP and ASBR_EAP, respectively. Both Desulfovibrio and Geobacter possessed the potential of extracellular electron transfer, which might be the advantage of ethanol dosage for enhancing methanogenesis through direct interspecies electron transfer. Methanosarcina was enriched in ASBR_P and ASBR_AP, while Methanosaeta in ASBR_EP and ASBR_EAP. Genes responsible for acetoclastic methanogenesis were significantly enriched in ASBR_EAP, possibly resulting in the highest methanogenic activity from acetate. Results from this study will advance the optimization of practical anaerobic systems, which can be achieved by regulating the intermediates with different fermenting pathways.No to less effort has been made to assess the toxicity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to lipid composition in biological systems and also to discover a mitigating agent against their oxidative stress. Hence, this research evaluated the antioxidant capability of quercetin (Qu) against silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) toxicity towards the lipid contents of ovarian, nervous, and hepatic systems as well as skeletal muscles. To this end, zebrafish (n = 180) were assigned into four experimental dietary groups negative and positive controls, without Qu supplementation; Qu-200, 200 mg Qu per kg diet; and Qu-400, 400 mg Qu per kg diet. At the end of the feeding trial (40 days), the experimental groups, except the negative control, were exposed to sublethal concentration of AgNPs (0.15 mg L-1) for 96 h. As to the liver tissue of the positive and Qu-200 treatments, total polyunsaturated fatty acids (∑PUFA) decreased 3 times, as well as total high unsaturated fatty acids (∑HUFA) reduced about 30% and 50%, respectively. However, the brain ∑HUFA, predominated by DHA, enhanced in Qu-400 treatment. Interestingly, ∑MUFA, ∑PUFA, and ∑HUFA increased in the muscle of all treated groups, especially Qu-200 and Qu-400. The oocyte ∑MUFA content increased in the positive and Qu-200 treatments, whereas ∑HUFA reduced about 25%, 25%, and 20%, respectively, in the positive, Qu-200, and Qu-400 groups. Generally, the findings suggest that unsaturated acyl chains, particularly HUFAs, in the liver tissue and oocyte cell are highly susceptible to peroxidation or degeneration by AgNPs. Drinking water distribution systems (DWDSs) have been thoroughly studied, but the concept of thermal energy recovery from DWDSs is very new and has been conceptualized in the past few years. Cold recovery results in a temperature increase of the drinking water. Its effects on drinking water quality and biofilm development are unclear. Hence, we studied both bulk water and biofilm phases for 232 days in two parallel pilot scale distribution systems with two temperature settings after cold recovery, 25 °C and 30 °C, and compared these with a reference pilot system without cold recovery. In all three pilot distributions systems (DSs) our results showed an initial increase in biomass (ATP) in the biofilm phase, along with occurrence of primary colonizers (Betaproteobacteriales) and subsequently a decrease in biomass and an increasing relative abundance of other microbial groups (amoeba resisting groups; Xanthobacteraceae, Legionellales), including those responsible for EPS formation in biofilms (Sphingomonadaceaeersity and composition at the end of the experimental period. Hence, we propose that the microbiological water quality of DWDSs with cold recovery should be monitored more frequently during the first 2-3 months of operation.During anaerobic digestion, methanogenic activities and pathways can be affected by intermediates. Here, the effects of intermediates acetate, propionate, and ethanol on methanogenesis were investigated. Four anaerobic sequencing batch reactors were acclimated with propionate (ASBR_P), ethanol/propionate (ASBR_EP), acetate/propionate (ASBR_AP), and ethanol/acetate/propionate (ASBR_EAP). Ethanol was the easiest one to be biodegraded, thereby enhancing the maximum methane production rate and shortening the lag phase, while the longest acclimation time and lowest methane production rate were observed in ASBR_P. Different microbial communities and syntrophic patterns existed in four reactors. Desulfovibrio and Geobacter were the dominant ethanol-oxidizing bacteria in ASBR_EP and ASBR_EAP, respectively. Both Desulfovibrio and Geobacter possessed the potential of extracellular electron transfer, which might be the advantage of ethanol dosage for enhancing methanogenesis through direct interspecies electron transfer. Methanosarcina was enriched in ASBR_P and ASBR_AP, while Methanosaeta in ASBR_EP and ASBR_EAP. Genes responsible for acetoclastic methanogenesis were significantly enriched in ASBR_EAP, possibly resulting in the highest methanogenic activity from acetate. Hence, this research evaluated the antioxidant capability of quercetin (Qu) against silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) toxicity towards the lipid contents of ovarian, nervous, and hepatic systems as well as skeletal muscles. To this end, zebrafish (n = 180) were assigned into four experimental dietary groups negative and positive controls, without Qu supplementation; Qu-200, 200 mg Qu per kg diet; and Qu-400, 400 mg Qu per kg diet. At the end of the feeding trial (40 days), the experimental groups, except the negative control, were exposed to sublethal concentration of AgNPs (0.15 mg L-1) for 96 h. As to the liver tissue of the positive and Qu-200 treatments, total polyunsaturated fatty acids (∑PUFA) decreased 3 times, as well as total high unsaturated fatty acids (∑HUFA) reduced about 30% and 50%, respectively. However, the brain ∑HUFA, predominated by DHA, enhanced in Qu-400 treatment. Interestingly, ∑MUFA, ∑PUFA, and ∑HUFA increased in the muscle of all treated groups, especially Qu-200 and Qu-400. Aidi injection mainly induced mild ADRs (total of 22 ADRs, 73.33%), and the resulting ADRs mostly occurred for <2 hours (total of 19 ADRs, 60.00%). After the specific nursing interventions were performed, no deaths due to ADRs occurred, and 12 (64.71%) cases were cured, 5 (29.41%) cases improved, and 1 (5.88%) case had no progression.
Particular attention should be paid to ADRs in the treatment of NHL patients with Aidi injection. After ADRs occur, specific nursing interventions can aid in recovery and lead to improvements in prognosis.

Prophylactic pancreatic stent placement (PSP) and rectal indomethacin suppository are recommended to prevent post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP) in high-risk cases. Clinical trials on the use of nitroglycerin to reduce PEP have reached no definitive conclusion. Our study aimed to determine whether treatment with rectal indomethacin plus nitroglycerin could eliminate the need for PSP in patients.
In this randomized clinical trial, patients were allocated into groups using a random number table, with each patient receiving a pre-made envelope containing their intervention prior to ERCP. The three treatment groups were the placebo group, the indomethacin + nitroglycerin group, and the PSP group. The subjects were assessed for PEP and its severity by a panel of independent and blinded adjudicators.
A total of 526 patients were eligible for inclusion. The placebo group included 176 patients, the indomethacin + nitroglycerin group included 176 patients and the PSP group included 174.A diagnosis of PEP was made in 64 (12.2%) cases. The rate of PEP in the three study groups placebo group, indomethacin + nitroglycerin group and the PSP group was 19.3%, 5.1%, and 12.1%, respectively.
The risk of post-ERCP pancreatitis in the indomethacin + nitroglycerin group was 7% lower than that in the PSP. Indomethacin + nitroglycerin is superior to PSP in preventing and relieving the severity of post-ERCP pancreatitis in patients with difficult intubation. Indomethacin plus nitroglycerin can avoid the need for PSP in the prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis.

Supraclavicular brachial plexus block (SCBPB) is a traditional anesthesia technique widely used in upper limb surgery. Ultrasound-guided SCBPB shows the peripheral structure and dynamic local anesthetic diffusion and can greatly shorten the anesthesia operation time, increase the success rate of anesthesia, and reduce the incidence of complications. However, it can still block the phrenic nerve and paralyze the diaphragm, which can be difficult to avoid. This study investigated two different volumes of the same concentration of ropivacaine used in ultrasound-guided SCBPB, and compared the effects on the incidence of diaphragmatic paralysis, pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2) and lung function in patients.
The study group comprised 103 patients who were to undergo surgery on the right forearm or right hand. They were randomly divided into two groups group A were given 20 mL 0.375% ropivacaine, and group B were given 30 mL 0.375% ropivacaine. We recorded the SpO2, forced vital capacity (FVC), and forced expirat30 mL of 0.375% ropivacaine can achieve the ideal brachial plexus block with ultrasound-guided SCBPB, but compared with 20 mL of 0.375% ropivacaine, 30 mL of 0.375% ropivacaine is more likely to cause diaphragmatic paralysis.
To explore the relationship between CD177 and the vasculogenic mimicry (VM), clinicopathological parameters, and prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer.
Tumor tissue samples and clinicopathological data were collected from 98 patients with epithelial ovarian cancer. The expression of CD177 in tumor tissues was detected by immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidase conjugate (SP) method, while the VM structure in tumor tissues was identified by CD31/periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) double staining in order to analyze the relationship between CD177, VM, clinicopathological parameters, and the prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer.
The proportion of the positive expression of CD177 (CD177+) in 98 ovarian cancer tissues was higher than that of the negative expression of CD177 (CD177-) (65.31% vs. 34.69%, P<0.05). Univariate analysis showed that CD177+ was associated with VM formation, tumor differentiation degree, tumor diameter, tumor stages, and platinum sensitivity (P<0.05), and was not associated with age, tumor types, or lymph node metastasis (P>0.05). Correlation analysis showed that CD177+ was positively correlated with VM formation, tumor differentiation degree, tumor diameter, and tumor stages (P<0.05), and was negatively correlated with platinum sensitivity (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the survival time of CD177+ patients was significantly shorter than that of CD177- patients (P<0.05).

Elite professional football players and staff are a unique group that might give insight into the epidemiology of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections in Germany and thus can serve as a model for geographical distribution and an estimation of undetected infections.
In this prospective cohort study seroprevalence was determined twice in May and June 2020 in players and staff from the German Bundesliga. As screening assays, a commercial ELISA (Euroimmun) and a chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) (Roche) were used, and an in-house neutralization assay (NT) was used as reference standard. Participants were tested twice weekly using PCR from nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swabs.
Seroprevalence (NT used as confirmation) in 2164 samples from 1184 players and staff was rather similar in May (23/1157, 1.99%) and June (21/1007, 2.09%). All participants were PCR-negative during the study period. Significant regional differences in seroprevalence were not observed. When comparing seroprevalence with the cumulative incidence of infections derived from the German notification system (subgroup matching to cohort; men, age 20-69years), IgG was found eight to ten times more frequently, pointing to a high rate of undetected infection. ELISA and CLIA correlated only moderately (κ 0.52).

To compare fosfomycin susceptibility testing with the commercial agar dilution (AD) test, AD Fosfomycin (Liofilchem, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy) and the reference AD method, using a collection of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates.
The collection included 119 carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, 53 Enterobacterales producing acquired AmpC-type and/or extended-spectrum β-lactamases and 38 carbapenemase-producing P.aeruginosa, including representatives of different high-risk clones. AD Fosfomycin and AD reference method (ISO 20776-12019) were performed starting from the same microbial suspension. Results were interpreted according to EUCAST clinical breakpoints (10.0). Essential agreement (EA), category agreement (CA) and error rates were calculated as described by the International Organization for Standardization.
Of 172 Enterobacterales, 143 (83.1%, including 92.9% (52 of 56) of the NDM-producers and 84.2% (48 of 57) of the KPC-producers) were susceptible to fosfomycin using reference AD. In the current study, we sequenced and characterized the full genome of strain MS2015-1-0001. On full-genomic analysis, strain MS2015-1-0001 exhibited the following genotype configuration G3-P[10]-I8-R3-C3-M3-A9-N3-T3-E3-H6, which is identical or closely related to those of bat and bat-like rotavirus strains (MYAS33-like). Furthermore, phylogenetic analysis revealed that all 11 genes of strain MS2015-1-0001 appeared to be of bat origin. Our findings provide evidence for bat-to-human interspecies transmission of rotaviruses and important insights into dynamic interactions between human and bat rotavirus strains.
Although cancer and HIV/AIDS are common causes of death in Vietnam, limited data exist on their palliative care needs. As palliative care becomes part of Universal Health Coverage, evidence is needed to scale up appropriate care.
To elicit from people with cancer or HIV/AIDS in Vietnam, and their caregivers, the specific multidimensional symptoms and concerns that cause serious health-related suffering.
Semistructured, qualitative, in-depth interviews were conducted with stage III or IV cancer patients, people with HIV/AIDS, and their caregivers at three cancer treatment centers and two HIV/AIDS treatment centers in northern, central, and southern Vietnam. Interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis.
Sixty people were interviewed (21 cancer patients, 20 people with HIV/AIDS, 19 caregivers). Pain and other physical symptoms severely impacted their daily lives. Psychological distress-including sadness, depression, worry, and a feeling of having no future-was mentioned frequently, and it was exacerbated by disease progression and by social problems such as financial difficulties and, among people with HIV/AIDS, stigma. Caregivers also suffered physically and psychosocially. Spirituality emerged as a source of strength for patients. Findings highlighted patients' and family caregivers' desire for more information about diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, a shift toward individual decision-making.
The findings demonstrate common, multidimensional, and severe suffering among people living with cancer or HIV/AIDS and their caregivers in Vietnam. These qualitative data should guide development of optimum clinical assessment tools and palliative care services for these populations.

In this prospective cohort study seroprevalence was determined twice in May and June 2020 in players and staff from the German Bundesliga. As screening assays, a commercial ELISA (Euroimmun) and a chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) (Roche) were used, and an in-house neutralization assay (NT) was used as reference standard. Participants were tested twice weekly using PCR from nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swabs. Seroprevalence (NT used as confirmation) in 2164 samples from 1184 players and staff was rather similar in May (23/1157, 1.99%) and June (21/1007, 2.09%). All participants were PCR-negative during the study period. Significant regional differences in seroprevalence were not observed. When comparing seroprevalence with the cumulative incidence of infections derived from the German notification system (subgroup matching to cohort; men, age 20-69years), IgG was found eight to ten times more frequently, pointing to a high rate of undetected infection. ELISA and CLIA correlated only moderately (κ 0.52). Seroprevalence with a high-quality diagnostic in Germany seemed to be around 2%. The number of undetected infections seems to be eight to ten times higher than in notification data. The quality of antibody assays is rather variable, thus results should ideally be confirmed at least by a second assay to prove IgG positivity. To compare fosfomycin susceptibility testing with the commercial agar dilution (AD) test, AD Fosfomycin (Liofilchem, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy) and the reference AD method, using a collection of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates. The collection included 119 carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, 53 Enterobacterales producing acquired AmpC-type and/or extended-spectrum β-lactamases and 38 carbapenemase-producing P.aeruginosa, including representatives of different high-risk clones. AD Fosfomycin and AD reference method (ISO 20776-12019) were performed starting from the same microbial suspension. Results were interpreted according to EUCAST clinical breakpoints (10.0). Essential agreement (EA), category agreement (CA) and error rates were calculated as described by the International Organization for Standardization. Of 172 Enterobacterales, 143 (83.1%, including 92.9% (52 of 56) of the NDM-producers and 84.2% (48 of 57) of the KPC-producers) were susceptible to fosfomycin using reference AD. In the current study, we sequenced and characterized the full genome of strain MS2015-1-0001. On full-genomic analysis, strain MS2015-1-0001 exhibited the following genotype configuration G3-P[10]-I8-R3-C3-M3-A9-N3-T3-E3-H6, which is identical or closely related to those of bat and bat-like rotavirus strains (MYAS33-like). Furthermore, phylogenetic analysis revealed that all 11 genes of strain MS2015-1-0001 appeared to be of bat origin. Our findings provide evidence for bat-to-human interspecies transmission of rotaviruses and important insights into dynamic interactions between human and bat rotavirus strains. Although cancer and HIV/AIDS are common causes of death in Vietnam, limited data exist on their palliative care needs. As palliative care becomes part of Universal Health Coverage, evidence is needed to scale up appropriate care. To elicit from people with cancer or HIV/AIDS in Vietnam, and their caregivers, the specific multidimensional symptoms and concerns that cause serious health-related suffering. Semistructured, qualitative, in-depth interviews were conducted with stage III or IV cancer patients, people with HIV/AIDS, and their caregivers at three cancer treatment centers and two HIV/AIDS treatment centers in northern, central, and southern Vietnam. Interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. Sixty people were interviewed (21 cancer patients, 20 people with HIV/AIDS, 19 caregivers). Pain and other physical symptoms severely impacted their daily lives. Psychological distress-including sadness, depression, worry, and a feeling of having no future-was mentioned frequently, and it was exacerbated by disease progression and by social problems such as financial difficulties and, among people with HIV/AIDS, stigma. Caregivers also suffered physically and psychosocially. Spirituality emerged as a source of strength for patients. Findings highlighted patients' and family caregivers' desire for more information about diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, a shift toward individual decision-making. The findings demonstrate common, multidimensional, and severe suffering among people living with cancer or HIV/AIDS and their caregivers in Vietnam. These qualitative data should guide development of optimum clinical assessment tools and palliative care services for these populations. Translational research means different things to different people. In the biomedical research community, translational research is the process of applying knowledge from basic biology and clinical trials to techniques and tools that address critical medical needs such as new therapies. Translational research then is a "bench to bedside" bridge specifically designed to improve health outcomes ( Wetmore & Garner, 2010 ). In this sense, animal models or cell culture systems may be used to learn about basic underlying genetic and physiologic systems that are exceedingly difficult to study in human subjects ( Reeves et al., 2019 ). This has been a major theme in Down syndrome (DS) research since the mid-1980s when mouse models that approximate the condition of trisomy 21 (Ts21) first became available ( Das & Reeves 2011 ). Translational research has recently taken on a more expansive meaning, as the process of turning observations from the laboratory, the clinic, and the community can all lead to new therapeutic approaches to improve population health outcomes ( Rubio et al., 2010 ). This model has received increased attention in the last decade as it is clear that improving developmental outcomes for people with DS requires a community effort on the part of all stakeholders ( Capone, 2010 ).Expectancy-value theory (EVT) is a popular framework to understand and improve students' motivation. Unfortunately, limited research has verified whether EVT predictions generalize to students with low levels of cognitive ability. This study relies on Grade 5 and 8 data from 177 students with low levels of cognitive ability and a matched sample of 177 students with average to high cognitive ability from the German "Project for the Analysis of Learning and Achievement in Mathematics." Results showed that students with low levels of cognitive ability were able to differentiate EVT components. Both groups demonstrated a similar downward developmental trend in motivation from early to middle adolescence, and similar relations between EVT components and levels of efforts, self-regulation, and mathematics class grades.Using national data, we examined emergency department (ED) encounters during 2006-2011 for which a diagnosis code for fragile X syndrome (FXS) was present (n = 7,217). Because of these spatial and temporal variations, multiple approaches for addressing motor and cognitive function must be considered.The spot (random) urine protein to creatinine ratio (P/C ratio) is an alternative, fast and simple method of detecting and estimating the quantitative assessment of proteinuria. The aim of the work was to review the literature concerning the usefulness of spot urine P/C ratio evaluation in the diagnosis of proteinuria in the course of kidney disease, hypertension, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, immunological diseases, diabetes mellitus, and multiple myeloma, and in the diagnosis of proteinuria in children. We searched the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using the following keywords proteinuria, spot urine protein to creatinine ratio, spot urine P/C ratio, protein creatinine index, PCR (protein to creatinine ratio), P/C ratio and methods, Jaffe versus enzymatic creatinine methods, urine protein methods, spot urine protein to creatinine ratio versus ACR (albumin to creatinine ratio), proteinuria versus albuminuria, limitations of the P/C ratio. Older adults spend up to 75%, on average, of their day sedentary, however little is known about interventions designed to decrease sitting time for this population.Methods A scoping review was conducted to broadly determine what is known about sedentary behaviour interventions for older adults. Electronic databases were searched for articles with eligibility criteria including (1) interventions containing strategies to decrease sedentary behaviour, (2) adults ≥60 years of age, and (3) reported outcome measures related to sedentary behaviour.Results A total of 32 articles met the inclusion criteria. While methodological quality and intervention characteristics varied among the studies, the majority of interventions used a multi-component approach. Interventions involved a variety of behavioural change strategies with goal setting, information and self-monitoring the most frequently used. Of the 20 studies reporting results, 80% (n = 16) found at least one significant change in sedentary behaviour.

IMPLICATIONS This study provides new insight into the mechanism of pitavastatin as an anticancer drug and suggests that the combination of pitavastatin with capmatinib is a useful therapeutic strategy in OSCC and ESCC.This article details a risk-based methodology designed to assign environmental classifications to the different operations in biopharmaceutical facilities manufacturing non-sterile (low bioburden) drug substance. Generally, environmental conditions for active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacture are established based on previous experiences or expectations or on extrapolated interpretations of current good manufacturing practices guidelines. Improvements in equipment design and operation, especially the use of closed systems, allow certain process steps to take place in controlled environment areas rather than in classified clean rooms. However, the design of facilities has not developed to reflect these technological advancements. The result is that facility designs are more complex with multiple environmental classifications, resulting in far higher capital and operational costs than necessary given the current technology and understanding. The authors propose a formal risk assessment-based methodology thain relation to a variety of process steps in different operating scenarios, to demonstrate how the assessment is applied. The methodology strongly supports the implementation of closed systems and demonstrates the limited need for classified areas. With fewer classified rooms, companies can reduce the complexity of facility layout and save costs without compromising patient safety or product quality.
Coiling, including balloon-assisted coiling (BAC), is the first-line therapy for ruptured and unruptured aneurysms. Its efficacy can be clinically evaluated by bleeding/rebleeding rate after coiling, and anatomically evaluated by aneurysm occlusion post-procedure and during follow-up. We aimed to analyze immediate post-coiling aneurysm occlusion and associated factors within the Analysis of Recanalization after Endovascular Treatment of intracranial Aneurysm (ARETA) population.
Between December 2013 and May 2015, 16 neurointerventional departments prospectively enrolled participants treated for ruptured and unruptured aneurysms (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01942512). Participant demographics, aneurysm characteristics, and endovascular techniques were recorded. In patients with aneurysms treated by coiling or BAC, immediate post-operative aneurysm occlusion was independently evaluated by a core lab using a 3-grade scale complete occlusion, neck remnant, and aneurysm remnant.
Of 1135 participants (age 53.8±12.8 years, 754 women (66.4%)), 1189 aneurysms were analyzed. Treatment modality was standard coiling in 645/1189 aneurysms (54.2%) and ****in 544/1189 (45.8%). Immediate post-operative aneurysm occlusion was complete occlusion in 57.8%, neck remnant in 34.4%, and aneurysm remnant in 7.8%. Adequate occlusion (complete occlusion or neck remnant) was significantly more frequent in aneurysms with size <10 mm (93.1% vs 86.3%; OR 1.8, 95% CI 1.1 to 3.2; p=0.02) and in aneurysms with a narrow neck (95.8% vs 89.6%; OR 2.5, 95% CI 1.5 to 4.1; p=0.0004). Patients aged <70 years had significantly more adequate occlusion (92.7% vs 87.2%; OR 1.9, 95% CI 1.1 to 3.4; p=0.04).

To assess the frequency of biologically defined Alzheimer disease (AD) in relation to age, sex,
ε4, and clinical diagnosis in a prospective cohort study evaluated with amyloid-PET and tau-PET.
We assessed cognitively unimpaired (CU) elderly (n = 166), patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (n = 77), and patients with probable AD dementia (n = 62) who underwent evaluation by dementia specialists and neuropsychologists in addition to amyloid-PET with [
F]AZD4694 and tau-PET with [
F]MK6240. Individuals were grouped according to their AD biomarker profile. Positive predictive value for biologically defined AD was assessed in relation to clinical diagnosis. Frequency of AD biomarker profiles was assessed using logistic regressions with odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).
The clinical diagnosis of probable AD dementia demonstrated good agreement with biologically defined AD (positive predictive value 85.2%). A total of 7.88% of CU were positive for both amyloid-PET and tau-PEin 85.2% of people with clinically defined AD and 7.88% of CU elderly.
Although studies continue to demonstrate lower complications in neurointerventions using transradial access (TRA) compared with transfemoral approaches, anatomic radial variants can be difficult to navigate and remain one of the frequent causes of access site conversion.
To evaluate predictors of TRA failure in neuroendovascular patients with radial loops and suggest a protocol for managing these anomalies.
A prospective collection of patients undergoing TRA at participating institutions from July 2018 to September 2020 was reviewed. Patients with a radial loop were identified. Patient demographics and procedural characteristics were evaluated to determine predictors of both TRA failure and successful reduction of the radial loop.
We identified 32 transradial neurointerventions in which patients had radial loops. Twenty-two (68.8%) were identified by diagnostic angiography, and the majority were performed for evaluation or treatment of an aneurysm (56.3%). TRA failure occurred in 13 (40.6%) of the cohort and happened more frequently in patients over 60 years of age (p=0.01) and those with recurrent radial artery diameters ≤2 mm (p=0.02). Of the 19 patients who had successful TRA, 12 (63.2%) procedures were performed through the recurrent radial artery.
Although radial loops are associated with high transradial failure rates, our results suggest that the presence of a loop is not an absolute contraindication to TRA. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/itf3756.html Therefore, we recommend attempting loop navigation using our protocol. We assessed cognitively unimpaired (CU) elderly (n = 166), patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (n = 77), and patients with probable AD dementia (n = 62) who underwent evaluation by dementia specialists and neuropsychologists in addition to amyloid-PET with [ F]AZD4694 and tau-PET with [ F]MK6240. Individuals were grouped according to their AD biomarker profile. Positive predictive value for biologically defined AD was assessed in relation to clinical diagnosis. Frequency of AD biomarker profiles was assessed using logistic regressions with odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The clinical diagnosis of probable AD dementia demonstrated good agreement with biologically defined AD (positive predictive value 85.2%). A total of 7.88% of CU were positive for both amyloid-PET and tau-PEin 85.2% of people with clinically defined AD and 7.88% of CU elderly. Although studies continue to demonstrate lower complications in neurointerventions using transradial access (TRA) compared with transfemoral approaches, anatomic radial variants can be difficult to navigate and remain one of the frequent causes of access site conversion. To evaluate predictors of TRA failure in neuroendovascular patients with radial loops and suggest a protocol for managing these anomalies. A prospective collection of patients undergoing TRA at participating institutions from July 2018 to September 2020 was reviewed. Patients with a radial loop were identified. Patient demographics and procedural characteristics were evaluated to determine predictors of both TRA failure and successful reduction of the radial loop. We identified 32 transradial neurointerventions in which patients had radial loops. Twenty-two (68.8%) were identified by diagnostic angiography, and the majority were performed for evaluation or treatment of an aneurysm (56.3%). TRA failure occurred in 13 (40.6%) of the cohort and happened more frequently in patients over 60 years of age (p=0.01) and those with recurrent radial artery diameters ≤2 mm (p=0.02). Of the 19 patients who had successful TRA, 12 (63.2%) procedures were performed through the recurrent radial artery. Purpose of the study Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia and its prevalence is rapidly increasing worldwide. Early-onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD) constitutes of patients with age of onset earlier than 65 year-old and is known to be associated with genetic mutations. In this study, we reported the first genetic analysis of Vietnamese patients with EOAD.Materials and methods We analyzed targeted sequencing data obtained from a cohort of 51 Vietnamese EOAD patients to identify pathogenic variants in twenty nine well-characterized neurodengerative genes.Results We identified four missense mutations in APP/PSEN1 genes from six individuals, which accounts for 11.8% of all tested cases. Three of these mutations were previously reported as pathogenic and one mutation in the APP gene was newly identified and might be specific for Vietnamese patients. Our study also found eight individuals carrying homozygous APOE ε4 allele, the main risk factor gene for late-onset AD.Conclusions Our findings showed that mutation rate in APP/PSEN genes in Vietnamese EOAD patients is consistent with that in other ethnic groups. Although further functional studies are required to validate the pathogenesis of the new mutations, our study demonstrated the necessity of genetic screening for EOAD patients as well as additional genetic data collection in Vietnamese population.This study evaluated the association of urinary nitrate concentrations with cognition in older subjects enrolled in the NHANES study. We also explored whether associations between urinary nitrate and cognition were modified by cardiovascular risk, vitamin D status and vitamin C intake. Two NHANES cycles were merged (2011-2012 and 2013-2014) and a total of 1,015 adults aged 60-80 (69.4 ± 0.3) years were included. Cognition was assessed using the Word List Learning, Word List Recall, Animal Fluency and the Digit Symbol Substitution tests. Urinary nitrate was analysed using electrospray tandem mass spectrometry. Urinary nitrate concentrations were not associated with cognitive performance on any of the cognitive tests. Associations were also not significant in subjects at greater risk for cognitive impairment (i.e. high cardiovascular risk and non-optimal vitamin D status). Longitudinal analyses are needed to explore the associations of urinary nitrate concentrations with dietary nitrate intake and cognitive function.

Active prospective ascertainment of cases of CP presenting between June and November 2017 to the NCH using surveillance modelled on the Paediatric Active Enhanced Disease Surveillance system in Australia.
Data were collected on 765 children with CP (mean age 2 years 7 months (SD 2 y 6 mo). Mean age at diagnosis was 1 year 8 months (SD 1 y 9 mo). Children predominantly had spastic CP (95.2%,

It was found that eveningness is not related to adults' perception of current parental relationships, or to adult attachment security, but low morning affect and stronger amplitude distinctness were associated with perception of more fatherly control, less regard for parents, and more attachment insecurity, and these were related to poorer wellbeing. These findings indicate that components of circadian functioning are related to the quality of adult relationships. Further research is needed to confirm these findings and establish explanatory mechanisms for these associations.
The purpose of this study was to examine the role of environmental and personal factors in sport coaches' well-being and behavioral intention. To be precise, this study measured how workplace social support, work involvement, and work satisfaction are associated with sport coaches' well-being and turnover intention, adopting the framework of the environmental psychological model.
A total of 519 responses were collected from sport coaches in Singapore. In this study, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis were conducted using EQS 6.3 software.
Results of structural equation modeling supported all hypothesized relationships, except the paths from work involvement to turnover intention and well-being. Additionally, this study found the indirect effects of workplace social support and work involvement on turnover intention and well-being.
This study provided an understanding of external and internal antecedents of sport coaches' future behavior and well-being, ultimately benefiting sport organizations.
