Natural Ant Control in Your Home

Natural ant control in the home is easy and involves a few easily available natural substances. You can take sticks on cinnamon and place them in window sills and in the corners of the room or beside doors. Place the cinnamon sticks anywhere an ant may enter your home. While we love the smell of cinnamon, ants do not care for it at all and it acts as a pretty effective ant repellent.

Placing peeled garlic cloves wherever you have seen ants is another effective natural ant control method. Peeled garlic will repel the ants and compel them to look for another spot. Of course peeled garlic cloves do not have the same aromatic appeal that cinnamon sticks have for us.

Vinegar

The properties in vinegar that make it a good fungicide also make it a good insecticide for ants. Simply place vinegar (plain white or apple cider vinegar) in a spray bottle and spray along any area you have been seeing ants in. Also look for entry points and saturate those areas with the mixture. Spraying along doorways, baseboards, window sills, and other similar areas is a good idea to keep ans away.

Boiling Water

If you notice hills of ants coming up along your walkway or in your yard, the best way to get rid of them is by pouring boiling water directly onto the hill. This will flood a good portion of the colony and terminate them. You likely won't eradicate the entire colony, but it will remove a good portion of them.

Black Pepper

When you see ants go ahead and sprinkle them with black pepper. They will immediately start to scatter, pay close attention to where they go so you can treat their entry ways. This is a great method for figuring out where the ants are. You can then use one of the above methods to kill off the colony.
