MCIWEM, membership, is a non-chartered grade of membership. This grade is available for those ones who work at an operational level and pursuing a pathway in the water and environmental sector.

MCIWEM provides formal recognition of your attainments. In addition, it will allow you to get involved with people and experiences that can help you continue your development and widen your network.

The institution offers valuable specialist structure and support to help make sure that your professional growth is not negatively affected because of the burden of your day-to-day work.

Who can attain membership?

This non-chartered grade is perfect for those who are recent entrants into the industry and still developing competency. You may be more experienced than a graduate, but less than required for chartership.

Requirements:

·        You need to have an honours degree or a NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management

·        Demonstrable post-graduate experience in water or/and environmental management for at least a period of two years

MCIWEM application requirements:

Fill up an application form online

Provide CIWEM with a copy of your latest CV

Provide the authority with copies of related certificates that are signed by your sponsors

You are required to have two sponsors. These two sponsors must have the MCIWEM grade or be professionally registered members (Chartered or at an equal level) of other professional organizations (including IEng, CEng, CSci and CEnv registrants). They must be able to review and sign off your application. You need to submit a signed letter from each of your sponsors alongside your application in which you need to confirm that they have done this.

You are required to write a 500-word report in which you need to detail the skills and knowledge you have earned in your water or/and environmental career or a summary of your NEBOSH Diploma assignment.

You have to write your report in the first person and show your responsibility in water or/and environmental management.

Identify projects/pieces of work for which you took responsibility and describe your responsibilities and roles in these.

By means of your report, describe an understanding of the environmental drivers and problems surrounding your work and your role in promoting good environmental practice.
