Game developer Jagex will donate £25,000 raised through in-game activities to the mental health charity under the official name as promised. Not only that, but Jagex plans to raise another £100,000 to support the mental health cause.
The Old School RuneScape Deadman Mode tournament, which lasted for a month, officially ended last weekend. As one of the largest Old School RuneScape events in 2020, this tournament attracted many players to participate, and as many as 2,000 players entered the second round of the knockout. This competition is conducted in a dedicated server, using Deadman Mode. Players need to use newly created characters to level up and surpass other opponents within a month. In the end, the player named Tata Sleepy won the first place and received a generous prize.
According to news published by Jagex on the event page of the official website, this tournament is part of the game industry's PlayApartTogether initiative. In order to prove that they are the top Old School RuneScape players and raise funds for mental health charity, thousands of OSRS Gold for Sale gamers actively signed up for the competition. In the end, Jagex raised £25,000 at this event and donated it to a mental health charity.
During the live finale, we can see that Tata Sleepy battle their way through the competition to win and realize the primary place prize: $1,000, the Razer Ultimate Bundle, Intel i9 9900k CPU, Intel SSD, Intel Swag Bag and one year of free old fashioned RuneScape membership. Prizes were also awarded to each player within the top 16.
In addition to the player prizes, Jagex will donate £25,000 to its three partnered psychological state charities – CPSL Mind, The Prince's Trust, and Rise Above The Disorder – as a part of its £100,000 commitment to support their work during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Jagex recently held some in-game activities for psychological state Awareness Week and now forecasts an extra £100,000 to be raised on top of its previous commitment. There's more info on Jagex's support here.
