The four main categories of ceramics are technical, refractory, white wares (such as dinnerware, floor tiles, and sanitary ware), and structural (such as pipes, bricks, and roof tiles) (nozzles, implants, bearings, etc). Advanced ceramics are typically employed to support the technological category.

Advanced Ceramics are made from highly refined and pure powders, many of which are made synthetically through chemical processes or high temperatures. These powders produce products that are highly robust, extremely high in abrasion resistance, can survive high use temperatures, have very good chemical resistance, and are very stable when formed and sintered properly.
