Potassium dihydrogen phosphate formula, also named as Potassium biphosphate formula or Monopotassium Phosphate formula is discussed in this article. It is an inorganic phosphate and potassium salt. The molecular or chemical formula of Potassium dihydrogen phosphate is KH2PO4.
Monopotassium phosphate (MKP), it is also known as potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP), is a soluble salt of dihydrogen phosphate ion and potassium. It is a source of potassium and phosphorus. It is a potassium salt where dihydrogen phosphate is the counterion.

Applications
1.In the food industry, it is used for the manufacture of baked goods, for leavening agent, flavouring agent, fermentation additives, nutritional fortifiers, yeast food.
2.As a chelating agent.
3.For the fertilization of rice, wheat, cotton, rape, tobacco, sugar cane, apple and other crops.
4.As chromatography reagents and buffer, but also for the synthesis of medicine. It can also used as a bacterial culture agent and the raw material for making potassium metaphosphate. In medicine, it is used for the uric acidification as a nutritional agent.
5.As a quality improver, it increases the ionic strength of food, and thus improving the adhesion and water holding capacity of food.
