This medication is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It works by changing the amount of dopamine in the brain. This helps reduce symptoms of ADHD, such as difficulty paying attention, trouble sitting still, and impulsive behaviour. It may take some time for this medication to work. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions carefully. This medication must be taken by mouth and can be given to children as young as 6 years old.

Do not use this medication in people with certain medical conditions. Tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, severe liver or heart problems, or a family history of these conditions. It is also not recommended to use this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a newborn infant. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Side effects may occur, but they are usually minor and temporary. If you experience any of the less serious side effects listed below, speak to your doctor.

More serious side effects may also occur, including suicidal thoughts or behaviour and blood pressure that is too high. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of these side effects, especially in children.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember in the morning. If it is afternoon or near the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regular time. Do not take a double dose to catch up.

Each capsule, debossed with 'S489 60 mg' on one side and 'VYVANSE' on the other, contains lisdexamfetamine (60 mg). Nonmedicinal ingredients: gelatin, titanium dioxide, erythrosine, brilliant blue, iron oxide black, and TekPrint SW-9008 (all strengths).

This medication is available as a tablet and in an oral solution. The liquid is also available as a suspension for infants.
