Hocus Pocus 2 Producer Teases Halloween Release Date

Hocus Pocus 2 producer, Adam Shankman, teases a Halloween release date for the upcoming film. Released in 1993, Hocus Pocus quickly became a cult classic and one of the most popular Halloween films of all time. Starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, Hocus Pocus follows Max (Omri Katz), his younger sister, Dani (Thora Birch), their neighbor Allison (Vinessa Shaw), and a talking cat named Binx (Jason Marsden) as they attempt to defeat the trio of witches before they devour the souls of all the children of Salem, Massachusetts.

Slated to debut on Disney+ in the Fall of 2022, Hocus Pocus 2 will feature the return of Midler, Parker, and Najimy as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson. Directed by Anne Fletcher, the sequel began filming back in November 2021 in Rhode Island, instead of Salem, Massachusetts. During filming, numerous behind-the-scenes photos and various sneak peeks have surfaced online. These include the Sanderson sisters filming a musical number, the infamous trio back in their old cottage, and a Binx Easter egg.

Hocus Pocus 2, which reportedly has a working title  Crime movie of Black Flame , will also feature Doug Jones, who will reprise his role as Billy Butcherson. New additions to the cast include Whitney Peak (Becca), Lila Buckingham (Cassie), and Belissa Escobedo (Izzy), as three young women in present-day Salem who encounter the Sanderson sisters. At this time, it remains to be seen if original cast members Katz, Shaw, and Birch will make cameo appearances as Max, Allison, and Dani all grown-up.

For now, it appears Hocus Pocus enthusiasts won’t have to wait much longer to see the Sanderson sisters back in action if the sequel film lands a Halloween 2022 release date. The continuous popularity of Hocus Pocus can be attributed to its stellar cast, comedic relief, and Halloween thrills. Ultimately, these factors are what have made Hocus Pocus 2 one of the most anticipated titles coming to Disney in 2022. After a long wait, Hocus Pocus 2 is officially conjuring up some movie magic - just in time for Halloween.
