When is the best time to go to Mexico in terms of weather and cost?


With the exception of January and February, the dry season (November–March) is when you can expect the warmest temperatures and fewest visitors. Between the heaviness of the autumn rains and the start of the peak season, dry, mild November may be the best month to visit overall. (Other positives of November include the possibility of seeing either the Day of the Dead celebrations or the spectacular Monarch butterfly migration, depending on when and where you go.)

There are typically amazing prices to be had in the peak season month of January, between the New Year's holiday and the beginning of the winter and spring break madness in February.

Migrating whales stop over in the warm seas off both coasts of Mexico at different times of the year. From December through March, visitors to Baja and the rest of the Pacific may catch sight of humpback, gray, and even the mysterious blue whales. January and February are the finest months to watch humpbacks in the protected Bahia de Banderas off Puerto Vallarta. Snorkeling with whale sharks off Espiritu Santo or scuba diving the calm waters of Cabo Pulmo (the sole coral reef on the west coast of North America) are both possible between November and April.

Mid-May to mid-September is whale-shark season on free games the other coast. Swimming with whale sharks, manta rays, turtles, and dolphins are just some of the highlights of boat cruises from Cancun to Isla Holbox and Isla Contoy. This is most effective in the months of June and July.
