While many players have stocked up on Lost Ark Gold since the MMORPG hit the West last month, some players have expressed disappointment at the prevalence of gender-locked classes and revealing women’s clothing. In a statement, Amazon Games’ head of franchises, Soomin Park, noted that changes to both issues are in the works. It related the occupation of the characters in the game to their gender. For example, only men can be warriors and only women can be mages.

A blog post by developer Smilegate last year acknowledged this was an issue, but Park said female Berserker was the next class to hit the game in South Korea. This will roll out over time, starting with gender-locked classes, Park said. Classes are bound to their character models in terms of functionality and animation, so bringing characters of the opposite sex to the class requires more work than just providing models of different genders.

Smilegate RPG is actively working on it, and female Berserker is the next class to come to Korea. While there are some classes in the game that don’t have both males and females, they made an effort to include those in their release class lineup. They’ll create more counterparts for gender-locked classes, and they’ll bring them to Arkesia in time.

Players have also been critical of the female armour sets, many of which are public. As for the armour sets, Park continued, while they have changed none of the original outfits in the game, they’re making adjustments so that in places like their marketing or initial characters, more revealing options aren’t front and center Creation screen (though the original character creator outfit is still available as an early drop in the game). The game also includes some new clothing options that aren’t as revealing, but these are additions rather than replacements.
