Button Head Screw
Also known as a socket cap screw, these screws have a low-profile head with a socket or wrench drive. They are commonly used in applications that require a flush finish or limited space. Because the head of a socket cap screw has a larger bearing surface than other fastener types it is resistant to looseness over time.

The head of a socket cap screw is recessed into a countersunk hole, which creates a smooth appearance and limits protrusions that could catch on objects or people. These fasteners can be driven with a standard socket driver, but it is recommended to use a security type screwdriver for increased resistance to tampering and theft.

While the benefits of using either a cap or button head screw are similar, there are some differences to consider for your application. Cap screws are stronger and more durable than button heads and are best for heavy duty applications or when strength is a priority. Button head screws have a wider load-bearing surface and are aesthetically pleasing, making them more suitable for lightweight and cosmetic applications.
