Grip socks have revolutionized workouts and sports that involve smooth surfaces by allowing individuals to push themselves further, without worrying about their grip and stability. These specialized socks are sometimes known as performance socks and they have made their way into the football world too, where they are said to enhance contact between foot and shoe or boot, thus adding that extra second's edge that can mean the difference between crushing defeat and thrilling victory.

Custom grip socks can be designed to your specifications and can be woven with high detail logos and graphics that will represent your brand perfectly. This creates a wearable marketing tool that can bring in a steady stream of revenue and also helps to boost customer loyalty. They are ideal for health and fitness businesses such as trampoline parks, soft play, inflatable parks and more.

Despite the fact that industry response to scientific knowledge that females require different sports shoes has lagged (Althoff & Hennig, 2014; Kulessa et al., 2017), there is anecdotal evidence that women benefit from grip socks, due to their ability to reduce in-shoe foot motion and improve change of direction performance. In order to compare the traction provided by grip and non-grip socks during a side-cut and sharp turn change of direction manoeuvre, we used an insole with a sledge attachment and measured the static coefficient of friction between the sock and shoe floor.

We found that the traction offered by grip socks was significantly greater than that of regular socks. This was attributed to the presence of fine silicone arrows, which generate a Grip: IN action, that prevents internal shoe slipping. This resulted in a significant improvement of both lateral and vertical change of direction performance.
