After the tour, Toto went into the studio to record the album Past to Present. During the process, lead singer Joseph Williams was fired and replaced by South African singer Jean-Michael Byron. The band would later release this album in the U.S. under the Columbia Records label. The album was mixed by Bob Clearmountain and produced by Toto guitarist Steve Lukather. It was the last studio album featuring drummer Jeff Porcaro, who died during rehearsals for the resulting tour.
