The Elder Scrolls Online has banned hundreds of players for cheating

Many Elder Scrolls Online players are looking forward to the release of High Isle. But unfortunately, over 400 players were banned before the launch because of cheating. Leading up to High Isle, the next adventure in Elder Scrolls Online, the Zenimax Online Studios team wants players to know that cheaters are definitely not going to thrive on their game. Only down-to-earth players can earn more ESO Gold and make their games more enjoyable.

Community manager Jessica Folsom jumped into the forums to let players know that over 400 players have been banned and will not tolerate modifying the game client. He said they recently discovered and banned over 400 ESO accounts for cheating-related terms of service violations. Specifically, the use of third-party cheat programs to manipulate game clients in unexpected ways.

They remind players that manipulation of the game client and the use of any unapproved third-party applications, programs, scripts or any other game modification mechanisms designed to alter the game experience are strictly prohibited. The customer support team has notified all banned players. Any player who has questions about the ban or would like to appeal the decision can contact them.

As part of the regular process, the developers have given players the opportunity to appeal the decision. Bans are nothing new in ESO, with developers and players reporting bans frequently on the official forums. However, with High Isle coming soon, this could be one of the best times to crack down on cheaters with new content.
