Gobetasia (pronounced GOU:ET-i-ah) is an unrecognized, clandestine nation of demon-worshipers that once lived in remote locations across Cibola. These families were originally from nations of Micras, who had banded together to live their lives free from persecution by the various empires of the world. Goetics are a polytheistic religion that has no one god; each family worships the spirits of their choosing, and each cult maintains its own traditions.

Since the Alexandrian Flu almost destroyed much of the world, the Goetics have been forced to rethink their previous goals. They have moved from a de facto, independent state to a centralized city-state with strong ties to Natopia. They have built two ports in the coastal settlement of Waffel Plains in exchange for certain economic and resource rights to the Community. While their old port communes were shattered by the Troglonauts and Navigators, these new connections will allow them to avoid pirate raids and refocus on their true mission of modernization.

The current leadership of the Goetics is the Council of the Dark Pact, headed by Andrea Drakland, daughter of Kizzy Drakland. Her mother was a ferocious ruler, but she has chosen to lead with diplomacy and intelligence. The Council oversees the affairs of the cult, including its relationships with other nations and the various Raspur Pact states that claim the Goetics’ territory. The council also grants her powers to administer Goetia, although the cult’s laws are largely still left up to the individual families and their sibyls. Looking More Gobetasia

In addition to trading and other business ventures, the Goetics now offer security services. They have built a small army of mercenaries, and they offer protection to groups of travelers, providing passports and safe houses for those that require it. The mercenaries are trained in the use of firearms and perform a number of other military tasks.

A growing number of Goetics identify as asexual or demisexual, and they are increasingly comfortable with their gender identity. Master Lukas has taught that the Goetian way of demon-worship is a form of sexual liberation and celebrates sexuality, as opposed to the oppressive Vanic religion that institutionalizes rape. The community also encourages a variety of traditional sports, such as badminton, lacrosse, Athlonic wrestling, and archery.
