Picking the right health insurance plan is going to make all the difference when it is time to take care of yourself and make sure you will not have to come up with a large sum of money when something goes wrong with your health. Having a plan in place can also help with budgeting, allowing you to know with certainty that you will have enough of your income available to take care of your rent as well. But what type of health insurance plan should you consider?

There are a few different insurance plans that you can choose when it comes to your health, but the two most common options are the HAS or FSA, if you are not able to find one through your work. Both of these plans will allow you to contribute money tax-free into a specific savings account that is dedicated to your costs for health care. Both of them can be a good way to save money back for health care and both will allow your employer to contribute to it as well.

To open up the HSA, you will need to have a HDHP. The deductible can seem a little scary when you do this, but when you already have the money on hand to help out when there is an emergency thanks to the HSA, then it is not going to be a problem. If you don’t use all of the money that is in the HSA, it is allowed to roll over from on year to the next, giving you a way to build up for the bad years if you have a few good ones.

FSA’s are only available through the employer, but you can have any type of health plan and still qualify. This can make it easier for a lot of people to go with. However, you will not see the contributions roll over with this one, so you will need to use up the funds every year, or you will lose some of the money each year.
