When many people think of Tesla, they automatically think about vehicles. The brand is of course well known for its electric vehicle technology. But it also has a large energy division, and anybody who has considered solar batteries for their home would be familiar with the Tesla Powerwall brand of solar battery storage solutions.

In a recent internal meeting, new energy products were teased. Rather than being a mix of third-party equipment, Tesla’s energy products have transitioned to using its own software in the last couple of years, and this trend is set to continue.

What products are on the way?

While details are still being kept relatively secret, it appears as though Tesla’s energy division has been hard at work to improve its service offering even further. The keys to any updated Tesla products will reportedly be installation efficiency, aesthetics and performance.

While keeping it fairly quiet, Tesla is already known to be trialling an improved version of its SolarRoof product on employees’ homes. Many of the changes will occur in the background, but a new interactive layout design facility has been mentioned. It’s expected the system will reduce post-permit redesign requests by 20%, utility rejections by 30%, and “average handle time (chat)” by 10%.

What about Powerwall and solar panels?

Nothing has been announced on this front, but it’s fair to say that Tesla is working on something behind the scenes. During the internal meeting, the senior manager of solar products, Seth Winger, stated that new and updated Tesla solar products would be on the market this year.

This has led to speculation that new or updated solar panels and Powerwall battery storage products could also be on the way. It’s certainly true that the solar energy market and the technology underpinning it are growing at an unprecedented rate. So, it should come as little surprise that Tesla is continuing to grow and expand its product range.

With the switch to using solely Tesla equipment in its products, the energy division recently saw its best quarter in four years, which is a great sign.
