In daily life, we usually check whether it is UL indoor and outdoor light set when buying lamps, but do you know what UL is? What is ETL?

UL stands for Underwriters Laboratory, a leading organization that creates and performs tests for LED lights to ensure they meet safety standards. To date, the lab has developed more than 1,500 unique safety standards that approve several lights for safe use in the United States and Canada. Not only that but the standards they developed are used by many other organizations, including ETL. The popularity of UL safety standards is recognized, and many people will look for UL certification on several LED lights.

ETL stands for Electrical Testing Laboratories, the testing, and certification division of Intertek Testing Laboratories in the UK. Basically, ETL tests LED lighting components to confirm that they meet established standards. However, ETL does not create its own standards; they only test LED lights for compliance with safety standards established by UL. In terms of cost, ETL is inexpensive and has a reputation for completing the certification process faster than UL.

The main reason LED lights are UL and ETL certified is to confirm that the products and components are safe to use. Among other things, these certifications test that the lamps are suitable for purchase by customers and that there are no issues that would be detrimental to the company's goodwill. LED lights are not legally required as far as these certifications are concerned, but they are good for customer satisfaction and product assurance. Until now, many lighting companies have decided not to sell products that are not certified to well-known safety standards such as UL and ETL.
