A Brief History of CSS.
CSS, otherwise called as cascading style sheet has been proved to be very useful in constructing the websites designed with stylish and lively appearance and versatile functioning in the era of dynamic web development and designing phase.
Over several years CSS has grown from what it was at its initial stages to being a standard tool in the contemporary web design world.
This, in turn, opens the need of covering each aspect of CSS, including such issues as the existence of the multiple versions of the technology, its integration with HTML, and a detailed time line of the CSS’s evolution.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF CSS
CSS evolved in the early 1990s in response to the increasing difficulties in web design process During that period, internet only began to develop and designers struggled with such issues in phrases of managing the visual aspects of Web pages.
Web was at that timelimited to content material in the form of textual content and HTML or HyperText Markup Language in essence was the preliminary method of filing web content.
The desire for newly made Web sites to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible led to the emergence of a language that focused mainly on the styling. This led to the creation of CSS which now can slice time into fractions of a second as oposed to the miliseconds of the older sportscars.
Creation of CSS.
Bear in mind that the CSS came from two gurus in the field of web development: Hakon Wium Lie of Norway and the Dutch programmer Bert Bos whose work led to the first CSS specification in 1994.
Their intention was to divide between structure (CSS) and meaning (HTML) and make the development of webpage faster and more efficient. HTML on the other hand is an organizational language that deals with the content of the website while CSS is deal with presentation of that content.
CSS VERSION HISTORY
CSS1:
There was CSS1 that was released in 1996, although work on it started a year earlier, and it can be considered as official start of CSS standard. As with most of the initial languages and protocols, CSS1 was more than adequate for allowing users to apply simple modifications to the style of their Web documents say, by changing the color of the text, the fonts and or backgrounds, but it did have restrictions in terms of the layout.
CSS2:
CSS2 that came to the public in 1998, introduced many improvements that included positioning, far better layout control and integrated media types that had been developed for devices.
CSS3:
CSS3 is incremental in nature and involves adding new, independent modules from which individual features are gradually developed. This framework includes various aspects of web design, such as animations and gradients or flexible box layouts.
CSS4:
The newest addition to the series is CSS4 that is still under construction. It is aimed at the development of web design with new features of its advancement, namely, responsiveness, variable fonts, and better grids.
CSS HISTORY TIMELINE
1994-1996
In the years 1994-1996 Hakon Wium Lie and Bert Bos presented the property the first CSS specification derived as CSS1. Its main goal was to provide distinction between content and structure.
1998
New styling and layout were introduced in 1998 by the release of CSS2 which offered more options for the said aspect.
2002
