TikTok has announced a major expansion of its creator subscription program, making it accessible to a wider range of users.

As of September 23, the platform's monetization tool, formerly known as LIVE Subscription, is now open to creators aged 18 or older with a minimum of 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 video views in the past year. This move marks a significant shift from the initial requirement of streaming content on the platform. Existing LIVE creators will still have access to the feature.

From Live Streaming to Broader Reach

Launched in 2022, LIVE Subscription initially targeted the live streaming space, competing with YouTube and Twitch. Today, the platform offers a three-tiered Subscription model, similar to Patreon, Instagram Subscription, and YouTube membership.

For a monthly fee, users can gain access to exclusive content, channels, and distinctive stickers. Creators can engage in direct conversations with subscribers on "Sub Space," and subscribers will be distinguished by unique badges and stickers during LIVE streams. computerstechnicians reports that this feature is expected to revolutionize the way creators interact with their audience.

The rollout of Subscription is currently underway in Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the UK, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S., with plans to expand to additional markets in the coming weeks.

Prices for LIVE Subscriptions start at $2.99 per month, with some creators charging $5.99. This is comparable to Twitch subscriptions, which cost $4.99.
