Horde players WoTLK Classic Gold may want to benefit from this week's ongoing same-faction Battleground test in order to receive the exclusive Olympic-themed cosmetics. Prior to Blizzard opening up matchmaking between the two factions in Battleground matchmaking, Horde gamers were waiting for hours to participate in matches thanks to the greater population, which makes winning these exclusive rewards much more difficult. The most recent game's same-faction matchmaking test has added rewards for Alliance players who opt to play in Battlegrounds.

The announcement occurs at a time when Activision Blizzard is dealing with the aftermath of a recent California lawsuit against the company which claims it promotes a "frat girl" culture rife with sexual harassment. Many players are calling for the elimination of NPCs for both WoW Classic as well as the latest Shadowlands edition of WoW that are named in honor of an ex-Blizzard veteran and Former WoW creative director, who is mentioned in the lawsuit.
