To win a positive ACS IT skill assessment without having ICT qualifications, you need to write an RPL report. Now, you must be thinking about what it is, and how it can help you.

This blog will provide you with answers to these two questions. Besides that, we will also tell you how to write an excellent report for a positive assessment.

What is the ACS RPL report?

The RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) report helps those candidates who are without an ICT degree or come from an unrelated background to prove their IT skills, knowledge and experience. You need to submit this report to the assessment authority, the Australian Computer Society (ACS). So, if you are without an ICT degree but with practical work experience, then you can use this pathway to prove your ICT competency for a positive ACS skill assessment

You need 6 six years of work experience as an IT professional for this pathway and 8 years if you are without a tertiary qualification.

Tips for writing excellent RPL report:

The assessment authority needs you to write two project reports. One of the two projects must have been taken up within the last 3 years of your visa application, and the other project should have been completed within the last 5 years of your visa application. Keep the following points in mind when writing a project report to enhance the quality of your RPL report:

  • Choose your project wisely. In fact, choose those projects in which you can demonstrate your knowledge and skills as in any one of the ANZSCO codes that you are planning to apply for.

  • Mention the details related to the project, the name of the project you chose, the affiliated company and the given role to you in each of the projects in your report.

  • Clearly describe your assigned duties and responsibilities for each project. Describe how your idea is implemented in the design and development of each project that will highlight your strong areas.

  • Explain the methods that were used in the System Analysis and Design of each project development.

  • Write the name of the programming languages that were used in the project by which you can demonstrate your programming skill.

  • Include all the database management techniques that were implemented in the project for showing your DBMS skills.

  • Give an impressive and convincing description of your ICT managerial activities in a way that allows you to demonstrate the nature and extent of your competencies and responsibilities.

  • Include project management quality assurance techniques that were followed in the project development. Doing so will allow you to showcase your managerial skill. Besides that, explain the security mechanisms that were implemented in the project.

Following all these project report writing tips will lead to a positive RPL ACS IT skill assessment
