With the popularity of e-cigarettes around the world, more and more people are choosing e-cigarettes as an alternative to traditional cigarettes. Many smokers consider e-cigarettes to be a relatively healthy option. So, do e-cigarettes contain calories? This is a common question posed by many e-cigarette users and those concerned about their health, especially when comparing e-cigarettes to smoking or other activities.

Do e-cigarettes contain calories?

In theory, e-cigarettes themselves do not contain calories. While traditional cigarettes produce combustion products by burning tobacco, e-cigarettes work by heating the liquid, so they don't produce calories. However, one of the components of e-cigarette liquid - vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) - is the key to providing steam. Let's take a look at their heat:

  1. Vegetable glycerin (VG) : Vegetable glycerin is a common solvent in e-cigarette liquids, usually extracted from vegetable oils. It contains a certain amount of calories on its own, usually about 4 calories per gram of vegetable glycerin. While this means that in some cases, you will consume very small amounts of calories when vaping, this is negligible compared to your daily dietary intake.
  2. Propylene glycol (PG) : Propylene glycol is generally considered a calorie-free substance, and although it differs chemically from vegetable glycerin, it is mainly used to enhance the smoke effect of the liquid and does not significantly provide heat.

So while the vegetable glycerin in the e-cigarette liquid may contain a small amount of calories, this will hardly have any real impact on your calorie intake. Compared to the calories in traditional food or drink, the calories in e-cigarettes are negligible.

E-liquid and calories

Some e-cigarette users worry that different flavors of e-liquid may contain more calories. There are different flavors of e-liquid, but their general composition is the same, whether it is free base nicotine or salt base nicotine e-liquid. Doesn't make any difference in calorie intake. Whether you're smoking dessert flavors or fruit flavors, it's not going to burn calories in any meaningful way.

Overall, e-cigarettes do not increase your calorie intake. Although e-cigarette liquids contain ingredients such as propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, they produce very little heat when inhaled. As a result, e-cigarettes do not affect body weight or increase calorie intake the way certain high-calorie foods do.

If you've been avoiding e-cigarettes because you're worried about weight gain, you can rest assured. E-vape does not gain weight, so there is no need to worry. If you still have questions, then we welcome you to contact us at any time!
