Establishments of Makkah

The history and foundation of Makkah are directly attributed to Prophet Ibrahim (A.S). When He was commanded by Allah Almighty to reach Makkah with His family. So, He left His wife Hajira (A.S) and his son Prophet Ismail (A.S) in the valley of Makkah. Hence, it is the city that was founded by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S). The following are the sites that make the city’s establishments from time to time.

The Zamzam Well

The word Zamzam water is derived from “Zam”, whose original meaning is stayed, stop, and stop flowing. The Zamzam well has great religious significance due to the reason of miracle. When Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) left his wife Hajira (A.S) and his son Ismail (A.S). His wife desperately searched for water on the barren land between the two hills of Safa and Marwah to provide water for her son. She ran in intense heat there seven times. She was also dying of thirst for water. Allah sent Angel Jibrail (A.S) to the earth and a fountain of water appeared. After finding the fountain, Hajira (A.S) feared that it would be wasted, so she closed it in a sand and stone pile. Today this water becomes holy for Muslims all over the world.

The Holy Kaaba

The Kaaba is a sacred place of worship that is dedicated to the worship of Allah. It was built by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and His son together. Some narrations believed that the builders of the Kaaba were Prophet Adam (A.S). However, the Holy Quran provides strong evidence that the builders of the Kaaba were Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and his son.

Hajar-e-Aswad is in the eastern corner of the Kaaba. It has been taken from Paradise and Angel Gabriel presented it to Hazrat Ibrahim to keep it in the Kaaba. Since it has been broken into pieces and is now cemented in a silver frame on one side of the holy Kaaba.
