Saint-Michel: There's also the zone of level 110 WOTLK Gold that opens up. If you've reached the cap on level, you're not even far from the finish line. You're still in Suramar, which just opened up. You've got your artifact which you're working to level. There's plenty for you to go past level 110.This leads us to the new Artifact Weapons--can you explain a bit about what those are and how they work?
Barriga: So , players may be familiar with famous quest lines that were previously available where some classes could be given quests that allowed them to obtain an extremely special weapon that is unique to their specific class. For Legion we made one quest line for every particular class. Thus, mages get three acquisition lines per each of their specs.
They also possess four. They have one to each of their specs. Very carefully tailored story of how to get the weapon. Specialized powers that come with the weapon. Then as you grow in power, the weapon will grow in power along with you. It's the basic classes' version of Excalibur.
As I've heard, these weapons are not intended to be used in any future expansions, should it ever be made. Would you be able to provide a comment on the thinking behind that choice?
Barriga: In a way it allows us to design these weapons to be the best we can imagine them to be. If there's anything in the powers that we really like and feels like this is something that should be central to the class it is possible to transfer this skill in the primary class.
If we said right off the bat we said, "This is something we should carry over" you'd have more of a narrower design space and less sane powers. The talents at the top of each branch of the tree are potent and alter the way you play. We prefer to view them a little bit as innovative. In a way, it's a way for us to experiment with new ideas without the obligation of [being] married to this notion from here on out for all time.
Like Garrisons for example, was the first time that we declared, "Hey, we really would like to explore this feature however, we're not sure if that we'll want to test it for a long time." I'm pretty sure it worked because everything about them felt extremely integral to Warlords of Draenor But when Warlords was over in the end, we were like, "Okay, Garrisons had their place, but we'd like to move on." If WOTLK Gold we had stated that garrisons are a feature of the game rather than the expansion, we'd be in a very difficult system to have to upkeep and make changes to again. The new model is one that we find more appealing.
