Keys for a correct academic writing

​​​This talk is part of an effort by the University, through the Research Directorate, the International Relations Office (ORI) and the Luis Echavarría Villegas Library, write my essay for me to support the work of researchers through the rigorous treatment of topics of interest to the same.

Having clarity in the methods and making a thorough review of the literature when asking questions in scientific or academic research is essential to achieve a place in high-level international publications, whose essential requirement is to have a good level of writing, mainly in the lingua franca of science:  English.

The rigor and relevance of an academic text greatly influence the acceptance of scientific articles that aspire to be published in top-level indexed journals. This was indicated by Kathryn M. Clifton, editorial expert and member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, who on Thursday, March 9, shared her knowledge with researchers interested in expanding the visibility of their papers at EAFIT. 

During the activity, Kathryn left the research community some keys to improve writing skills and thus produce higher-quality academic texts. These are some of them:

" Do not write and edit the same day"

Taking an hour a day to write can allow the researcher to be more disciplined when writing their texts, taking into account time constraints. In addition,premium essay this strategy will allow you not to deviate from the objective of the article.

 

 

" Write clear, short and concise "

This allows articles to reach a wider audience and helps increase the number of citations for the article. To achieve clear, short, and concise texts, techniques such as brainstorming or brainstorming can be used.

 

 

"Make use of digital tools to identify keywords "

Tools such as Google AdWords, which are normally used in digital marketing, allow us to identify the most common and searched words on the Internet related to the field of study and the objective of the research. Thus, by using the indicated words according to the intention of the article, the chances of citation and visibility in the search results increase. 

 

" Headline should be the last step in the writing process "

The title is the reader's first contact with the publication and should include the main concepts of the research. Thus, when starting with the introduction, the methodology, and the results, there will be more clarity about the most indicated title. 

 

 

"Be concrete for an ideal abstract "

A one-paragraph abstract is ideal. This takes into account that the user does not always have the time to read very long summaries. The key is to write, for this space, a short and attractive text that includes an introductory sentence and a concluding sentence.  

 

 

 

"Introduce with a close language"

The introduction should give an account of the problem to be solved and have contextual data that allow identifying the relevance of the article. In addition, it must contain background descriptions that could not be exposed in the abstract. Finally, it is recommended that it is not "very" academic but in a language that is closer and easier to understand. 

 

 

"Do not distract with the results"

Only ideas related to the main topic should be included in the space provided for results, otherwise, it may be a distracting element for the reader. It is important to use resources such as graphs, buy essay online figures, and tables to support this point.

It is important that the section of the paper dedicated to the analysis not only reflects the hypothesis but is well structured and has fluency and connection from one paragraph to another. This, through a prayer that allows the link to be established.

Both the introduction and the results must be read by someone who is not very close to the object of study, if the reader did not understand what was being communicated, it should be written differently.
