However, if left untreated, chlamydia can cause serious complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ectopic pregnancy, and even infertility. 1. Chlamydia is the most commonly reported STI in the US. In 2016, almost 1 in 5 women aged 18-24 years old were infected with Chlamydia. 

2. The main risk factors for getting chlamydia include having multiple sexual partners and being younger than 25 years old. 

3. Chlamydia can be spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. It can also be passed from mother to child during pregnancy or childbirth.
