The latest study, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, looked into the link between artificial sweetener consumption from the most common supermarket sweeteners and cancer risk. Aspartame, acesulfame-K, and sucralose were among the sweeteners tested. The study involved 102,865 participants from the NutriNet-Santé French population cohort over 7.8 years (2009-2021), in which the cohort's "dietary intakes and use of sweeteners were acquired via repeated 24-hour dietary records containing brand names of industrial items."
