Diablo 4 is going to be different and different from Diablo 3 in a number of crucial ways, but perhaps the most important is the huge amount of testing that's being conducted for Diablo 4 at every level. For the first time ever, this testing also includes Diablo 4's ending-game Diablo IV Gold.
When speaking to IGN game director Joe Shely and Diablo franchise general manager Rod Fergusson talked about Diablo 4's thorough testing, its ending-game content, and its live-service goals. Fergusson described Diablo 4 "the game that I feel has been more holistically tested any other game I've been associated with," noting that the game has been made available to all of Activision Blizzard and even friends and family to make sure of its quality (even though that friends and family test was a 40-minute leak).
Diablo 4(opens in new tab) is set to be an open world, but Blizzard hasn't been very certain about what this means. In a recent interview on IGN(opens in new tab) Game director Joe Shely and Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson went a bit deeper into what players should anticipate when they return to the world of Sanctuary.
"One concern with putting 'open world' in the form of a large neon sign and flashing it is that people believe that the concept about the Breath of the Wild type of'Oh it's totally natural and I can be anywhere and accomplish anything and in the end, I'll come up with a solution for myself'" Fergusson said. "That's not our real story. Our story allows for non-linearity However, it is a story. We wanted to have a start, middle, and end. We wanted to start at a certain point, and to end at an exact area."
Diablo 4 is "more of an evolving story," he said, and players are able to select the order they play its major parts--and after that, play them in different order in a replay for a completely different kind of result. It is expected that there would also be numerous opportunities to horse around with other things and forget about the main mission for a while if you'd like buy Diablo 4 Gold.
