Nirmal Purja is a name that has become synonymous with mountaineering legend. Born in Nepal in 1983, Purja grew up in a remote village in the district of Myagdi. In 2016, he became the first person to climb three 8,000-meter peaks in a single day, and in 2018, he set the record for the fastest ascent of the seven highest peaks in the world.

But it was his Project Possible expedition in 2019 that truly cemented his place in mountaineering history. Over the course of just six months, Purja climbed all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks, beginning with Annapurna in Nepal on April 23, 2019, and finishing with Shishapangma in Tibet on October 29, 2019. He climbed some of the most difficult mountains in the world, including K2, the world's second-highest peak, and Annapurna, which is widely regarded as the most dangerous mountain in the world.

Purja's achievement was all the more remarkable because of the circumstances surrounding his climbs. Many of the peaks he climbed had never been climbed before in the autumn season, and he had to battle extreme weather conditions, long days of trekking and climbing, and dangerous routes.
