The tonometry device is a technology that has transformed the way intraocular pressure (IOP) is measured, making the process more comfortable and safer for patients. In the past, measuring IOP involved using traditional tonometers, which required numbing eye drops and a probe to be placed on the cornea. This procedure was uncomfortable for patients and sometimes resulted in inaccurate readings.
However, with the new tonometry device, the process is now quicker, more accurate, and more comfortable. The Tonometry Device measures IOP using air-puff technology, which is non-invasive and does not require any numbing drops. The patient simply sits in front of the device and looks at a light while a small puff of air is directed at the eye.
