Not all types of work experience are acceptable for the ACS Migration Skills assessment. Therefore, you should know what types of work experience are acceptable for an assessment. 

Here, in this blog, we will let you know about the types of working experience that are acceptable for the ACS Migration Skills assessment. In addition, we will also tell you about the different pathways that you can use for this assignment and the eligibility criteria for each of these pathways. 

Eligibility criteria: 

Eligibility criteria are different according to the educational qualifications and work experience of the candidate. 

Temporary graduate: 

Complete an Australian Bachelor’s Degree or higher, and this degree needs to be an ICT major and closely relevant to the occupation you have chosen from the ANZSCO code list. Another thing is that it’s not compulsory for you to have worked in the field. 

Post Australia Study Skills Assessment: 

This route requires you to possess an Australian Bachelor Degree or higher. The Australian qualification is required to be an ICT major. In addition, this qualification must be closely related to your nominated ANZSCO occupation. 

You need to complete one year of related post-study work experience, or you are required to complete the ACS Professional Year program. 

Skills: 

Having a bachelor’s degree or higher that is an ICT major and closely related to the ANZSCO occupation will require you to have 2 years of related work experience gained in the last 10 years or relevant working experience of 4 years attained anytime in the past. 

If you possess a bachelor’s degree or higher closely relevant to the ANZSCO occupation you choose and an ICT major, demonstrate work experience of 4 years that must be relevant and gained anytime in the past. 

In the case of possessing a bachelor’s degree or higher closely occupation-related and an ICT minor, show related work experience of five years attained in the last 10 years or related work experience of 6 years acquired anytime in the past. 

If your bachelor’s degree or higher is not related to the ANZSCO occupation you choose and it’s an ICT minor, demonstrate ACS work experience of 6 years you earned anytime in the past. 

Demonstrate related work experience of 5 years attained in the last 10 years or 6 years of related work experience attained anytime in the past if with a Diploma, Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma, and your qualification is closely relevant to the ANZSCO occupation you choose. 

You need related work experience gained anytime in the past if you possess a Diploma, Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma and this qualification is unrelated to the chosen occupation. 

RPL: 

The RPL pathway is for those ones having a non-ICT Diploma or higher, the condition for this pathway is to have 6 years of relevant work experience and a successful RPL application. 

This pathway is also for those ones without any tertiary qualifications, these candidates need to have relevant work experience of 8 years and a successful RPL application. 

 

Work experience: 

To be eligible for an ACS skill assessment, your employment must satisfy the below-listed criteria: 

Per week you need to work for at least 20 hours. 

It must a paid employment. 

The employment must be post-qualification. 

Therefore, volunteering or research work completely based on a thesis cannot be accepted as work experience for an ACS Migration Skills assessment.
