"The Origins and Evolution of the Art of Eight Limbs"
Muaythai, also known as "The Art of Eight Limbs", is a combat sport that originated in Thailand. The sport is based on the use of eight points of contact- fists, elbows, knees and shins- to strike an opponent during combat. The art of muaythai has been passed down through generations and has evolved into the modern-day sport we see today.
The history of muaythai dates back over 2,000 years ago when it was used as a form of self-defense for the Thai people. It was practiced by soldiers and warriors who needed to protect their land from invaders. Over time, it became more popular and eventually turned into a professional sport where athletes would compete against one another in front of spectators.
As muaythai grew in popularity, so did its rules and regulations.
