The dragon Aspects in World of Warcraft each have long and tragic histories, and unfortunately, most of them have lost themselves.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has taken with it each of the game’s dragons as central characters, particularly the four remaining Aspects. They are the leaders of dragon kind, the oldest and wisest of the ilk. However, World of Warcraft's players might have noticed that these grand, powerful dragons now add their own, without any special someone at their side.
Most of World of Warcraft's Aspects chose their mates sometime ago, also called Prime Consorts. These chosen dragons would rule at their Aspects’ sides, offering advice, comfort, and more importantly, love. And yet, when players visit Alexstrasza, Nozdormu, and Kalecgos, there aren't any consorts to talk of. Unfortunately, the Aspects’ power and immortality don't protect them from tragedy, and also the heartache of loss lingers with most of them each day.
Most of World of Warcraft's Dragon Aspects Have Lost Their Mates to Tragedy
Firstly, there's Alexstrasza the Life-Binder, Aspect from the Red Dragonflight, and guardian of life on Azeroth. Her mate was referred to as Korialstrasz, and veteran World of Warcraft players may remember him by another name. Korialstrasz strived to assist mortals around he could, dealing with the guise of the human mage named Krasus to do this. He was instrumental in leading the Kirin Tor to safeguard Azeroth often over, so his absence was gone through by more than just his mate.
Despite his dedication, Korialstrasz didn't survive the events of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. He was watching the large clutch of eggs within the Ruby Sanctum, before realizing they'd been corrupted by Twilight cultists. With no other choice, Korialstrasz sacrificed himself to destroy the cultists and also the corrupted eggs, collapsing the nearby Sanctum. When Alexstrasza discovered this, she was consumed with grief, also it took almost a year before she rejoined fighting against Deathwing.
Ysera the Dreamer may be the Green Aspect, and she or he herself was killed in World of Warcraft: Legion. She was returned to the Shadowlands by players in Dragonflight, but her late consort, Eranikus, is seldom mentioned. In truth, he met a most unkind fate a long time ago. He attempted to stop the Gurubashi trolls from reanimating Hakkar, the Blood Loa, however, he was a victim of the corruption from the Emerald Nightmare. He perished as a result of aggrieved players, and the soul eventually made it to the Emerald Dream, where lucrative rests in eternal slumber.
Kalecgos, the Blue Aspect, is a young dragon, having only taken on the role during Cataclysm. His predecessor, Malygos the Spell-Weaver, lost his mate, Sindragosa, ten millennia prior, and her tragic death would be a major factor in the late Blue Aspect’s eventual madness. Kalec, however, hasn't yet chosen a consort, and also the main reason for this is simply the new Blue Aspect prefers the organization of mortals. Currently, he's in love with World of Warcraft's Jaina Proudmoore, however, their relationship has stalled for many years due to Jaina’s problems.
Dragons are patient, however, and Kalec is decided to wait until she’s finally prepared to rekindle their love. Interestingly enough, Nozdormu may be the exception to this trend of Aspects enduring grave personal loss. His consort, Soridormi, is alive and well, although she's made few appearances throughout World of Warcraft. She may be the leader of the time walkers and protects the Bronze Dragonflight since Nozdormu is usually consumed along with other matters.
