Us food pesticides have been found contaminated by toxic "permanent chemical

Some of the most widely used food pesticides in the United States are contaminated with "potentially dangerous" levels of toxic PFAS "permanent chemical," new product tests have found.

The Environmental Protection Agency has until now been silent on perfluorobutane sulfonic acid in food pesticides, although it has found the chemical in non-food crop products. The paper's authors say the potential of millions of acres of contaminated farmland requires faster and stronger regulatory action.

"I can't imagine anything that would make these products more dangerous than they already are, but my imagination isn't big enough," said Nathan Donley, co-author of the study and director of environmental health sciences at the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD). "Epa must get a grip on this situation and remove pesticide products that are contaminated with these extremely dangerous, long-lasting chemical."
