It's business. Dryer understands well.
The Hunter series, produced by the late legendary television producer Stephen J. Cannell, is among the most popular and relevant television shows on the market in syndication.
"I recognize the importance of this Hunter series, and also the value of the copyright the author owns, and I am a participant the profits.
"I take a call over to Steve Cannell and say, "We've been doing this show for some time now. It's sure to be a major success. I think I deserve a little of the back end of your copyrights or your library.' So , the issue is 'what is Fred going get for his contribution to the show?'
"We have a deal with each other, and we've signed it. And now, I'm a part of the deal and get paid every time the show is on anywhere in the world."
It's the same model Dryer as well as the other plaintiffs would like to experience the Madden NFL 24 embrace.
"We're asking for participation in the profit for"the" Madden NFL 24 collection of the Madden NFL 24 Films of which we've taken part in. Why wouldn't that stand the test of logic?"
If players decide to choose to either opt in or out of the settlement proposal the dispute is then referred in the direction of the Federal Court in Minnesota. If a majority of players decide to not participate then the judge is able to revisit talks between players and the league but there's no guarantee for this to occur.
Many believe it is likely that the court, Paul Magnuson, will decide not to send the two parties back to the table for negotiations. When Magnuson confirmed the Madden NFL 24's settlement request in April of this year, he declared:
"It bears repeating: the plaintiffs who brought this suit and now oppose the settlement walked through court under the banner of saving their downtrodden brethren and those who played for the N.F.L. but today were in dire straits and, often, having to deal with MUT 24 ltds injuries or illnesses that directly related to their playing. It's sheer irresponsibility for these plaintiffs to now complain that, just like kids who don't get dessert that the settlement did not make enough money for the plaintiffs who brought the lawsuit."
