Comprising around 1,200 pages, this detailed work is not just a book but a complete program in spiritual change and inner healing. A Class in Wonders is exclusive in its approach to spirituality, pulling from numerous spiritual and metaphysical traditions to present a system of believed that seeks to cause individuals to circumstances of internal peace, forgiveness, and awakening with their correct nature.
The roots of A Program in Miracles can be tracked back again to the collaboration between two individuals, Helen Schucman and William Thetford, both of whom were prominent psychologists and researchers. The course's inception occurred in early 1960s acim when Schucman, who was a clinical and research psychiatrist at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, started to have some inner dictations. She defined these dictations as originating from an inner style that determined itself as Jesus Christ. Schucman initially resisted these activities, but with Thetford's support, she started transcribing the messages she received.
Around a period of seven decades, Schucman transcribed what would become A Class in Wonders, amounting to three quantities: the Text, the Book for Pupils, and the Handbook for Teachers. The Text sits out the theoretical basis of the program, elaborating on the core methods and principles. The Workbook for Students includes 365 classes, one for every single day of the entire year, made to steer the reader through a day-to-day practice of using the course's teachings. The Information for Teachers offers further guidance on how to realize and show the rules of A Course in Wonders to others.
One of many central styles of A Course in Miracles is the notion of forgiveness. The class teaches that true forgiveness is the important thing to internal peace and awareness to one's divine nature. Based on its teachings, forgiveness is not merely a ethical or honest training but a basic shift in perception.
