Psilocybin Grow Bags
Psilocybin grow bags are plastic containers used to cultivate mushrooms. They are sterilized to kill contaminants and filled with substrate, then inoculated with mushroom spores or mycelium. The mycelium grows inside the bag and eventually produces mushrooms that can be harvested and consumed.
Mushroom grow bags come in a variety of sizes. The size you choose depends on how much substrate you want to add and the space you have for cultivation. The larger bags also allow for more mycelium to form. The type of filter on the bag is another important factor to consider. Some bags use a 3 ml thick polypropylene, while others are made from more durable materials like a more rigid plastic that holds up to punctures and tear. The filter thickness and micron rating determine how well the bag withstands contamination and allows for gas exchange.
The gussets of the bag are an important feature, as they are designed to fold small and flat for easy storage but open up wide enough to hold large amounts of grain or sawdust for inoculation. They are also designed to withstand high temperatures during sterilization. It is important to avoid prolonged direct contact with the base of an autoclave or pressure cooker, as this can cause damage and rupture the bags.
After the bag is inoculated, it should be placed on a dark shelf and colonized for several weeks. During this time, it is best to keep the bag undisturbed and out of direct sunlight. Once the bag has fully colonized, it can be used for fruiting in a block or placed into a larger grow chamber like a BoomRoom II, Monotub, or other closed system.
